Tower Hobbies is canceling backorders for TRX-4

Traxxas stills sell through all their other distributors, so they just dropped Hobbico. The word from my hobby shop is Traxxas dropped Hobbico because of the lack of support they were giving the product line, always showing stuff out of stock even when Traxxas had it to sell to them etc. Can't say I blame them.

As for supporting shops, if they didn't, why would only hobby shops have the TRX-4 for sale for several months before any of the mail-order guys or on the Traxxas website? Heck, they could have put it on their site at the very beginning, but they didn't, they sent it to hobby shops.

Again, from what my shop tells me, Traxxas can't put the TRX-4 in the boxes fast enough to fill the demand so they get allocated out to the shops depending on when they are put on order.

Not to get too off topic, but I wonder if Traxxas will be going after the Vaterra Twin Hammers for the same copyright infringement? Unless Traxxas and Horizon have some sort of agreement?

They already did.

Lots of people have that theory. I don't buy it. Traxxas doesn't care about LHS. They care about sales.

In my opinion they are only creating this self-distribution model to screw Great Planes.

You need to call Amy, my LHS manager/ owner and she will set you straight. Traxxas called them and set up direct sales and advertising, so they could actually SELL trucks , not just spare parts. They supplied a demo truck which I tested in the shop. You don't have a good LHS so don't issue opinions not based on the truth. You know, no fake news !

Yeah Traxxas sent demos out to popular LHS. That's called advertising and promotion. That doesn't, to me, mean that they care about LHS. Hell, Traxxas sells at Pep Boys. All of the LHS could die and they'd still have retail locations. That's my opinion and your opinion doesn't make mine wrong or fake news.

Talk to a dealer. I've spent hours chatting in the shop. Tower wants to have it all. Traxxas doesn't need them as sales show on the TR4.
I think the current lawsuit will be another game changer, Horizon might end up on top. Trouble is I run a few of their trucks, some stock parts do work.

I've talked to my LHS. When I asked them about the Traxxas crawler they looked at me like I was crazy. And this shop has been around since the 80's.

I think Great Planes is in deep crap. Losing Traxxas would be huge for them. And there's a reason Tower has gotten so stingy with coupons on everything. Plus, shipping prices have went up while shipping speeds have decreased for anything not a kit or RTR. Then there's the story about not being able to give stock dividends to employees. Not good signs.

My LHS got the run around for a month when I ordered my TRX from them. Was very hard time waiting on them, kept getting "end of the week, beginning of next.. etc" Traxxas wouldn't even let them order 1 to have in stock.
That happened to me as well when I went to my LHS in Huntington Beach. Owner Rob was very open with me when he told me there was something going on with Traxxas and they were giving him the run around. I love Traxxas but if they are trying to stick it to people who move the product for whatever reason they are not hurting the shop. They are screwing us the consumer.

Now most Traxxas RCs on Tower's site say "Discontinued".

This is funny, and sad at the same time.

I could care less to be honest not like tower was giving any better deals than the small shops.

Does it really matter? Traxxas don't have any interesting crawler stuff anyway.
Umm...

Are you the only person in the world not aware of the TRX-4?

Yeah everyone did pretty much.

Lots of brands still allow coupons. Axial, Traxxas, and Vaterra don't, but there are still a lot left. Not really much help when looking for a new crawler though.

Yeah that's what I meant can't really get a discount on any rigs.
