I'm thinking about picking up one of these for my crawler to mount on the front axle. My local Hobbytown has them for like 30 bucks. Has anyone had good results with this servo? I know it is water proof as well, or supposed to be...
If its for a scaler it should be fine. It has 125oz/in of torque which is decent. The only downside is that its not metal geared. This is the servo that comes on the slash and I haven't had any problems with mine yet. Id say give it a shot. "thumbsup"
Ok great, thanks for the info. I forgot to mention I'm using it on Wheely King axles with 2.2 proline B/L's w/ Moab's... 125 oz of torque should be enough to turn those right? I was using the HPI SF-2 steering servo from my Savage and it seemed to do alright, however it was not directly on the axle. I think that servo only has like 70-80 oz.
If it's the same as the slash servo, mine sucked, and already stripped out atfter running it 3 times in open dirt. now it only turns right and not left. :x too bad they don't have any metal gear servos like that with water proofing. I have not tried switching the gears out yet, maybe there are metal interchangables.
They aren't very good on crawlers. I had one on my SCX-10 because it was waterproof and I had it laying around. I think it knocked the teeth off a gear after about 5 battery packs without a servo saver. Not to mention it didn't have much torque.
Thanks for all of the info guys, I opted for a JR ST126MG - 126 oz/in Metal Geared Servo. Hopefully this one will be good. It was a few dollars more and has some more torque and metal gears. One question though, I'm using the stock Wheeling King radio, do the pins on this servo need to be reversed? It has red/brown/tan wires. Everything I have ever dealt with has red/white/black....
