I powder coated a base coat on the frame rails and Vanquish shock mounts:

Trimmed the XR10 universal so I could install XR10 steering. I also installed XR10 C Hubs, knuckles, and Beef Tubes. I didn't post photos because it's been done before.

Here is a short video testing the XR10 steering:

Front Bumper:

I started my front bumper. I started with this ...

The bumper looked a little to high, so I trimmed it down a bit.

Here it is trimmed down a bit.

Made some mounting brackets.

I had to re-design the brackets so I can integrate the winch into front bumper.

Building the front bumper was very time consuming. Here is what I have so far. I just need to add some light tabs and it will be ready for the base coat:

Rear Bumper:

I wanted a simple rear bumper that would maximize ground clearance. It took me only one night to get most of the rear bumper built:

The base coat is on!

The front and rear bumpers are done.

Here is the finish coat. I spend extra time recessing the lights inside the bumper:

A tight squeeze. I have about 2mm of clearance between the winch and servo horn.

And here is the way it looks with the spare tire and jerry cans:

Rock sliders are next.

Thank you.

I'm using the Savox SA-1230SG Monster Torque Coreless Steel Gear Digital Servo. It's rated torque is 500 oz at 6.0 V.

Ok, im using the 1231 that is rated at 444 at 6 volts, so thats good. well, good luck on the rest of your project!!

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you have to use a base coat because he is using candy/translucent top coat. So the base coat has the ability to change the final color. Silver is a pretty standard base coat when using candy top coats.

Truck looks really nice! I must ask, what is the benefit of silver powder coated base coat? Is the red spray painted or powdered?

Please refer to DonnieB' s reply.

You're absolutely correct. The candy pearl red is a translucent powder paint, so you need the silver metallic base coat.

I'm assuming the red is spray paint then, because when I powder coat metal twice the second coat never comes out well. Trump, did you scuff the PC finish first?

Both the silver base and candy pearl red are powder paints. No scuffing.
