Turkey Time...

Yeah, take it off the grill, and put it in a deep fryer!

Oh deep fried is the way .... But a slow roasted smoked Turkey is even better I deep fry mine every year. But last year I built a smoker over the summer and tried it out.. Let's just say smoked is like a oven baked compared to a deep fried... The tip is have a good smoker I'm not sure u could keep your heat low enough for long enough to grill one.. But if ya smoke it stay around 200 degrees for about 6 hrs well that depends on how big the bird is.. I used cherry and hickory wood ... Green cherry wood I didn't season anything no injection just smoke flavored mmmmmmm

I have been frying turkeys for about three years and they are good eating but this year Im smoking a couple.I plan on injecting one with marinade and just season the other.I hear they are realy good.

Anybody grilling there turkeys? If so got any tips or tricks"thumbsup"

I wouldn't try anything bigger than a 12-ish pounder. If you use a webber dome type grill it works pretty good, and Cook the turkey in a tin roaster pan,on the grate. You will need to pile all the coles on one side and put the turkey tward the other, and you may need to add coles as you cook. I like to put bacon in it or on it or both, the combo of the bacon and the char coal gives it an awesome taste. We used to do this camping every year, it turns out awesome.

Definitely use a pan...the heavy disposable type, but skip the rack. I use a bed of whole carrots and celery and make a V-rack with them instead. This adds moisture where a metal rack allows it to dry out. Fill the bottom of the pan with 1/4 - 1/2" of chicken or vegetable broth.

Also, for the first half of the cooking time, cook it breast down. Halfway through, flip it over. I also skip the stuffing and fill the cavity with whole sprigs of sage, thyme and rosemary against the breast bone and the rest stuffed with wedges of orange, lemon and lime and onion.

I also make this mixture to rub all over the turkey and between the skin and breast meat.

best advice ever! I did this for the first time last year w/ my brother and his family, we had a blast cooking the thing and everyone enjoyed eating it."thumbsup"
