What are some decent shocks for a 7.25lb rig.

I recently changed up my scx10 so it's now a truggy. I am running 4" shocks off a duratrax stadium truck. With super soft losi springs in the rear and medium springs in the front. My shocks leak like hell what would be some decent replacements that hold oil. I'd like to stick with a 100mm or 4" shock

I would say some king shocks. I've heard great things about them. I plan on getting them for my rig.

Power strokes or King they both perform brilliantly. The power strokes are probably a bit firmer (out of the packet) and you can get tuned springs.

I run and have been running the 4" big bore's with losi white springs and 25wt oil for 2yrs or more now and love them!

Not as pricey, still buttery smooth and Don't leak!

The Associated Factory Team V2 in 1.18" stoke (#7487) would fit, 4.02" OAL or roughly 3.71" center-to-center of the eyelets (102mm or 94mm). They're gray/gun metal anodized, threaded bodies, titanium nitride coated shafts and in kit form for $30-35 a pair. You don't get the fake reservoir option with them though. Rear truck spring packs (#1582) are $10 for a set of ten, two each in five different spring rates. You can also use the Axial springs if you run the shorter spring and collar (#80032-2) on the bottom.

Same shocks are available in 1.32" stoke as well, they're 4.36" OAL or 3.96" center-to-center (110.7mm or 100.6mm). All shock kits include three pairs of PTFE (teflon) pistons to help with tuning.

This is what the 1.18" look like on the not quite finished Dingo, they have the wrong springs on them right now. Springs are the shorter front truck set. I bought the wrong sets, luckily I have half a dozen AE trucks and an AE buggy I can use them on.

Been using AE's shocks since the early 90's and the new(ish) V2's for the last 26 months on my SC10 RS. V2 are much easier to rebuild. They take a hell of a lot more abuse on the SC and stadium trucks than what the crawlers can dish out and perform great, no leaking and super smooth thanks to the combination of the titanium nitrite coated shafts, silicone O-rings and PTFE pistons.

I run king 100mm. Real smooth,no leaks and look awesome!! They make a spring pack with 4 different spring rates also.

Stock slash rears would also be a good option

i use the traxxas big bores also. just put new ones on. i was using the white losi springs but needed some more clearance for the big ass tires and put the red springs on.

It's a shame I sold my slashes I did have big bores for them. I really dig the look of the Kings. I am thinking of the 100mm non reservoir in the front and 114mm reservoir in the rear since I have a shock mount in the rear that will allow longer rear shocks and keep the same ride height as the front

Found these on e-Bay, they're rear shocks for the SC10 4x4, 13mm bore, 3.96" center-to-center or 4.35" OAL (100.6mm or 110.5mm) designed for heavier trucks. Kit also includes rubber shock boots, spring packs are about $12 for four pair and the they're also available in the Factory Team version (#91109). Been running the blue set for over two years on the SC10 4x4.

At 10-libs you may also want to consider looking into some 1/8 scale buggy/tuck shocks.

LCC shocks are great, little tall for the scx though. X2 on the AE/Team Associated shocks. They are tough and easy to find with tons of options to go with for tuning.

I run 90 mm ts-02 gmade internal spring shocks. Rig is 7lbs and they are2/3rds compressed when at rest.

Just curious, why do you recommend these versus the ProLine Scaler shocks that were made for the SCX10?

You can not get the dampening control with the scaler shocks that you can with the big bore shocks.
