What did you do to/with your Ascender today

Today I ordered a Holmes hobbies Crawlmaster pro 16t. Tomorrow I test my new CI foams :woohoo:

Replaced the stock servo with a Hitec water proof (I don't believe in the word proof) servo.

Finally got a chance to get out and give it a run. Couldn't be happier with the Proline dual stage foams. It is definitely a night and day difference.

I put in a new Savox 1230SG, BEC and RX Bypass Adapter as the stock RTR servo finally crapped on me after some serious crawling. Once everything was tightened up and adjusted, I gave the remote to my 6yo daughter and said "Have at it!" I let her crawl all over the yard, backyard course etc... I figured if anyone could find a weak link in it, she could. So far, so good.

I got the new boggers mounted up on the steel beadlocks, and put on the blazer.

Swapped my RC4WD IROCs with Proline dual stage foams over to my SSD Trailmaster wheels and stuck them on the Blazer. Then took it out for a run. It still amazes me how well this truck just gets through and over just about everything in its path. Especially now with this wheel and tire combo.

Figured out that ssd sent me 1 link in my titanium link kit that was a couple of mm too short. If ripped the front end apart 3 times in the last three days to figure out why my suspension was binding. I had the short link bolted up top of the pumpkin, so everything went together fine lol. Was driving me crazy. Thanks again ssd for another mistake with the link kit...I will never buy them again...just gonna get a spacer to make that short link the correct length. Love the wheels and diff covers tho loL

Back to fixing my goofy suspension link kit... ten hours labor at least so far trying to put them on

Did these things over the course of last week.
  • Put on some ebay metal rims. $40 for a set of four, I figured why not. They seem well built but a PITA to get together.
  • Weighted the fronts with about 6oz and rears with about 3oz. This is temporary till I get my CODYBOY axles.
  • Put on a set of ProLine Hyrax, I ran these on a buddy's truck and really liked them.
  • Cut the front stock foams to fit the weights. I don't like the stock foams as they are too soft and want to move around in the tire. Looking at other options.
  • Drilled out one hole 1/16th" out of each of the rear shocks and two holes in the fronts. Filled with 30wt oil.
  • Loosened the front shocks and tightened the rears.
  • Sanded down the front top lip of the battery tray and shimmed it. It was hitting the shock tower and not letting the axle articulate the way it should.
  • Lowered the body down a notch or two. Then trimmed the fenders maybe a 1/8" all the way around.

I haven't done anything as of yet. Other that open the K5 kit. I hope to work on it every day this week. Finally an Ascender owner. "thumbsup"

Gave my K5 Blazer a make over.
Started out with this.
