I love it when "OG"s give the newbs the works. If i has a dime for every post that said "use the search button" I would be moderately more well off than I am now. What I love more are the folks that post like rain drops. I mean really do these folks need to post on everyones topic? The higher the post count ususaly the more apt the person is to use the above mentioned newb catch all phrase.
I have like many others been into this hobby since I was 11. I am now 35 and I have more toys than ever! Back then kits a good kit cost more than most RTR's today. The rock crawling craze has been the single most exciting aspect in the hobby since the advent of the clod. Which by the way was at one point the hottest thing since sliced bread. But I also think that was what helped the true monster truck lovers realize you could bang them around on the rocks just like the first rock crawlers we were seeing in the offroad mags.
Yes no matter what one or two individuals may say the true OG guys that crawl were all doing the side by side thing with clods long before this site and many others were in existance. Those are the guys that brought the innivation to those old porky clods. The advent of the tube framers and plus 90 deg articulation rigs led to the scale backlash. The tired of the clod guys that said that trucks should look like trucks not moon buggys. I found my fisrt scale crawling links on RCMT. Posted by a fantastic USA1 diehard Dominique Shauntee.
Once I saw those scale jeeps and unimogs that the germans were already modding heavily I was sold. The first crawling topics started appearing folowed shortly by the crawling forum sub sections. Then crawling dedicated sites in rapid succesion. The old XC chassis that lot of us have had and flogged mercelesly was very key and it could be had rtr ! No one was complaining about rtr's back then cause you could keep your race trucks and have this neat bash buggy that you could tear up the flower beds with and have a blast. Can't forget the Jugg it wa also pivital because it reminded us that true trucks had driveshafts!
I still see alot of the names from those MT days now being true innivators for this rock crawling site and many others. I have even seen a few sell out then get back in years later and keep turning out new fresh ideas. The new Axial is a new hinge point for our sport and the new talent that comes with that benifits us all. I have one and LOVE it. I never have in 24 years failed to help a felow RC lover wether it was a newbie that didnt know why he needed a charger to the guys that have been in rc for years and want to get into a new aspect of the RC hobby. Believe it or not after 24 years I still run into true RG OG's that have been at it for 24 years more than me. I still look up to some of those guys and truely appreciate even the smalest nugget of knowledge i can take from conversations with them.
The reason my post count is so low you may ask? I dont need help anymore from 99.99 percent of the people on this and many other sites. I can take care of it myself but the reason I come back is the innovation and the ideas that everyone has on this board and others like it. Newbs and OG's alike. So before you give the newbs the razz remember when you were a newb cause I do!
