YES, I said V6. I took one for a test drive the other day and was pleasantly surprised with it's performance, even with a slush box auto. My Jeep is just about paid off an I'm looking at getting a car for a new daily driver. The local Chevy dealer had a new Camaro sitting in the lot on my way home the other day and I just had to stop and check it out as I haven't seen one up close yet. Of course the sales guy came out to talk but he was pretty cool. It was a base model LS with steel wheels, which actually looked really cool being black with a silver lip and the white body of the car. I asked to take it for a quick drive and he agreed. WOW. For a V6 with an automatic, it sure had some pick up and go! The guy told me it's the same motor as in the Cadillac CTS.

Until now I had been eyes a new Impreza wagon, but this V6 Camaro really has me thinking. But with GM being in the crapper as of lately, I don't know if it's something I should get.

The V6 is making over 300hp though.....better on gas, cheaper on insurance. With a few bolt on's it can be pretty quick. The V6 Camaro is out running the V8 Mustang in the 1/4.....

I'm not looking to spend $30k on a car right now, that's why the V6 has soo much appeal. I know the V8 would be awesome, but for a daily driver that has decent fuel economy and can be fun... it's a tough decision.

if u have to ask what we we do you obviously dont want the v6, take the 8 out for a spin and then see if its a tough choice, the rule i live by is... any thing i want i always buy the bext step up cuz i know i would regret it if i didnt, if u get the 6, youll want the 8 then wish u did in the first place, just how it goes with every thing

Well I did test drive a used Chrysler 300C last week as well, with the 5.7L Hemi... and that was a nice car. I love the stylings of the 300C's and the Hemi is a damn nice motor, with lots of power. It drove smooth and handled very well. The Camaro on the other hand had lots of power as well and drive very nice and handled sharp corners very nicely and planted.

What do you think I'll say?

When it comes down to buying a American muscle cars, I don't even consider a V6. Yeah a V8 is bad on gas and your insurance will go up, but ask yourself this question, did I get to this point in my life to cheat myself, or should I treat myself. Go with the V8 Camaro SS! Super Sport all day baby! Can't go wrong with a Chevy, unless you pick a V6 Camaro over a V8 Camaro SS!8)

I would also consider the re sale value of the two. The V8 I am sure will bring you a better return no matter when you decide to sell.

I'll take a V6 with 300+HP! The price difference between the V6 and the V8 is a huge jump!

I would get the v6, 300hp is enough for a daily driver. If you want a fun toy go build yourself a 60's muscle car with a newer v8 for power. And for the price difference you could probably build a car that's got some power and you could have the v6 camaro.

i was in the same boat in 02, i ended with with the 2002 SS, man i loved that car. I was glad I got the V8.. i like these new camaro's i saw one the other day lowered a inch or 2 with nice wheels, and a bit louder exhaust, it was dam nice. "thumbsup"

Price is a huge factor to me right now. Kenny have you driven one?

Challenger.

No doubt would I love a Challenger, I'm a Dodge guy before Chevy. I've driven both a V8 and a V6 model Challenger. The V6 was gutless to say the least. The V8 is great, but getting one for under $30k is not going to happen.

Chevrolet is actually calling the Camaro a "Sports Coupe" and not a muscle car... and I'm only 24, still plenty of time to have fun later.

I say hell yes to that statement. If your looking for a DD to get decent gas mileage and look good doing it I say buy it. Now if you had said you were looking for a fast car to run at the drag strip but couldn't affors the V8 so your thinking about going with a V6 I's say your nuts. You would end up spending just as much as the V6 would have cost you in the first place upgrading the V6 to run like a V8. Honestly I think it would be a sweet car and like you said your not looking for a V8 and your budget is not gonna handle a V8. Based on your OP yes I would buy a V6 Camaro and drive it and enjoy it and when the Honda kids pull up to you and laugh because you have a V6 just smile and leave em in the dust lol. Buy it "thumbsup"

I've rode in the V8 Camaro. I wasn't that impressed with it for what it cost. I watched 2 Camaro's run at the strip last month. One was the V6 one was the V8. The V8 beat it by about 3/4 of a car. Both were automatics. Both had good reaction times and both hooked up.

The V6 Camaro is making 304HP and 273 tq and getting 30.2MPG Hwy!!!!!! Running the 1/4 mile @ 14.2sec at 98.9MPH! Not shabby at all for a V6 huh?

And as for the "Challanger"....The V6 Camaro beats it in every test and makes more HP!

If you are looking for a DD then the V6 would be my choice for the $. Great gas milage, good price, plenty of punch. Insurance will be A LOT cheaper! Looks just like the V8.

Do a full cat back exaust on it, add some pullies, intake, and throw a 100 shot (dry) NOS in the trunk for fun. It would be a low 13 second car in the 1/4 and drive it to work everyday!

Hell, throw some SS wheels on it and drop it 1-2" and it would look nasty! I say buy it and have the cheaper payments and still have a bad ass car"thumbsup"
