| 1985 Toyota Pickup
Time for a Class 1 rig! After many months of thinking of what body to build for this year's season I decided on a simple second generation Toyota. It will be bobbed and should be relatively simple to make. I have a bit of experience with this body style. Ok, clock is ticking. Let's go...places! The body will be plopped on an Ascender with a lot of GCM goodies. These aren't the wheels and tires I will use. I love how the 1.55 Stompers look but this set is starting to rot. They are about 5 years old. First up, GCM shock relocation kit and some eBay shocks. GCM driveshaft adapter to make regular driveshafts work. The Vaterra design was daft. And lastly, GCM transmission relocation kit and transfer case install. Going to try out that sweet new 35t Axial motor too. 3S mostly likely. I mean...6S, this is a comp truck. Truck fires 1st place! There will be a servo winch up front. Body is done. Just needs some paint. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention I narrowed the axles by 12mm. Easy stuff, cut 6mm off each end, drill new holes and you win. |

Looks awesome. This is the first Ascender I've took the time to look at, I like the look of the chassis and axles. Subscrib3d

I love those tires. I wish they'd make them in the new, X2SS compound.

I have some colors in mind. There will be stripes. Many stripes. I wish they would make them a tad smaller at the same width. That would be brilliant. | |

Should build an 84. The 85 has the fancy pants fuel injected 22re. I like my trusty 84 22r. |

more pics of them extra skinny'd axles? Me thinks the small pumpkin would look good with a narrower than O.E. width. Does Albert approve of the new ride?

Not all 85's had a 22re, some had 22r's.

85 is when Toyota switched to fuel injection. The old toy's are so versatile folks run the 22r in 3rd gens and 22re's in first gens so forth.

Bodies far from finished. The 2nd gen IMO is the sexiest truck Toyota ever released. I'm certain nOOb will show us what a true second gen with a 22r..... Will look like soon.

GCM keeps on rolling out some great5 stuff. Those wheels are mint! So a lot of stripes huh? Maybe like your FJtoyman shock skids? |
