Default Yep'er Another Merc build, Pick up that is...

Here's the #2 build I mentioned in my G500 build thread. With all the looking for off road picks of the G Wagons, and pimpin Pantablo about a build off I kept seeing the 3 door models and very few Pick ups. I scored a second body a couple of weeks ago, and made my mind up it was time for a off the wall build......

The white one is what I'm shooting for... I lost a couple of the good pics I had, but this will do for now

Here's a quick vid of what the truck will look like when done.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h4Dx...eature=related

Specs will be:
TLT Axles
R2 trans
55T Lathe/or BM9
CC sidewinder ESC
Trail Doc XL's
SW3 chassis (just kidding!)
Scratch built chassis
Exo/roll bars/rock sliders
Turned down TLT shocks w/vendeta springs
WB 9 3/4 - 10"

OK enough with the horsin' around, on to the pics!

Here's what I got done a few nights ago while watching the live feed Jason had going.... pulled everything apart stashed what I plan to use as spare parts for the 500..

Today I started to get cranking on the rest of the major body mods. Pulled off the flares and did some trimming

The body was about a 1/4" too tall to feed thru my bandsaw so I pulled the table off and had at it.

More to follow tonight..............

It's actually really easy, draw the cut lines, close your eyes and cut

Here are a few more pics of it glued up.....

quick shot of the seats for the interior

Pretty much ready for hole filling and putty work now. I'm debating on either a trail beater, and go empty light buckets, stripped out interior/windows or not. we'll see when I get futher along...

I like it. Nice variation on the theme.

I think it was badger who said, it doesn't take balls to cut up a Bruiser, it only takes a Dremel.

Thanks man! Truthfully I'm not too fond of it either, but wanted something not really done yet. And when everything lined up like it did, and the body is REAL styrene and not polypropylene or ABS, I had to do it....

Who knows maybe if I find another body for the right price, I could see a 3 door in the future.

I hear ya. Thats the first reason I got the gwagon. I hadnt seen many of them. Now lots of people are seeing the raw beauty, lol.
Your new project has nice proportions. I was looking at doing that without shortening the wb so it looked a bit odd to me.

Not seeing many of them is why I went red with mine...Are you going with the white from the first pic? I think these look really good in white, and thought of doing mine white but it would look to similar to jaynen's jk and since we run them together so often opted for something different.

You have great skill. I look forward to seeing how this one turns out.

The rig in the video you linked to, does it have indy suspension front and rear? Or just front?

I'm not too sure yet what I am going to go with for color. I'm just going with the flow on this one. I'm still kicking around with doing the angle of lower corners of the headlights. White does look cool, and with the plastic main color being grey/silver, the rock rash would look sweet I found this pic too which I kind of like too

I kept telling you I was just getting warmed up with the last one!

I started the grill guard tube work tonight, Taking a break to see how the front will look if I mod the headlight buckets quick. I using somewhat softer 1/8" solid rod. It's stiff, but yet will bend if I put it into the rocks hard enough..

I should have pics up by morning.

Here is the progress on the tube work so far.

I still have the winch mount and skid plate to do like in the pic, but I'm going to save that for last. I plan on getting some of the cab cage done yet today....
