Heres some of the re-build pics people have asked for.... This is how the rolling chassis looked before I started tearing it down.. One thing I forgot to mention is the steering servo was "mounted" to the frame with zip ties, and was practically falling off..! ...Notice the "droop" shock setup - It just WASN'T working for this truck so it HAD to go..!! Also notice the SUPER long wb of this thing..!! Way too long for a Truggy.. Heres with the body still mounted the way I got it..Look CLOSELY at the drag link rod coming from the steering servo ( above the tie rod...) Another angle..... That won't be TOO sloppy right..?? Heres gutting the front axle... OK... Now Lets Fast Forward 72 hours.., heres some progress pics from tonight..! Still the same truck, but almost NOTHING is the same way as i got it.. ( Above Pic ) I had to cut into the rear flatbed area to get the aluminum shock towers to fit, ( check against the first chassis pic..) but it came out pretty sweet.. Also added the "diamond plate" rear toolbox..still got more to do back here... Heres the re-built front end as of now.. Rear shot with the spare tire and fuel cell mounted up.. Still have to play around with the ride height, shock mounts , and trim the fenders, and also mount up some sort of front bumper - but heres where it sits as of now...So far so good..!!! What a sweet build and well done on the mods. It's sometimes more difficult to rebuild than build from scratch I've got to do one of these now |

Hey Everyone, heres a small update on the truggy - heres where we left off.........still had to get the body mounted up, as well as button up the front end, ( cut off that busted lower valance piece, and fill the drilled holes inside the bumper) and then set the ride height, as well as rebuild the rear axle, and a few other mods .... One small paint detail I've always sort of liked, but NEVER done on any of my trucks ( because EVERYONE and there brother has done it) is the flat black hood.. Well, after really thinking about it, I decided this was the truck to do it to....and NOW I'm glad I did..! ( and YES the extra long hood post is going to disappear soon enough ! ) I then added a few more details to the rear ( Hi-Lift jack, cooler, bag of charcoal , tow rope, etc..) Everything fits nice and tight under the cage with the body on ( sorry about the crappy pics..) The rear cage work was then taken off, scuffed, sanded, primed and repainted, as well as all the final paint details on the chassis..This project also just got some new sneakers too..!!! Finally also got the ride height figured out as well. Just a few more scale details to add, and this one will pretty much be done, and ready to hit the trails . And THEN I can finally pull "Clampy" off the backburner, and get back to work on it..!!! TWINS..!!??!!?? Last edited by 51WillysJeep; 10-13-2008 at 07:13 PM. |

nice work i think everything looks good except the spare. it just looks too big; maybe it's because it sits up high on the tube work?
