| 1.9" Willys Pick-Up Scaler
Hey Guys- I was fortunate enough to have worked out a deal with "Chip Cross" for this AWESOME truck, when he recently had it up for SALE - and it is now currently headed MY direction..! I have admired this rig since the first time I laid eyes on it..! Having already built alot of custom stuff with styrene, I can appreciate the amount of time and effort that "F-150Highlift" put into making this rig as completely Sweet and SICK as it is..! I will post up pics when I actually recieve it, and I may have a complete overhaul in the works- time will tell.. for now, enjoy these pics |

Congratulations!! Other than tail lights and a radiator I don't see how it could be improved, but after reading some of your builds I sure it'll just get better. |

I LOVE this truck.....and it was built with some truly amazing SKILL and an eye for details. I've only been around here for 3 or 4 months...but I've done ALOT of reading and this has been one of my favorite builds. It's an awesome rig right from the get-go. I can't wait to see what you've got in mind for it ! Last edited by BiG_DaWgZ; 05-23-2009 at 03:04 PM. |

Thanks Guys- Honestly, I REALLY wanted this truck the first time it was for sale but just didn't have the funds at the time .. Then when I saw it the second time around, I Knew just HAD to have it... I will be adding a radiator, taillights, and possibly an interior as well ( we'll see once it gets here) I might even re-paint it, any color suggestions..?? I think that trucks like this one look very cool with the "Ol Southwest Fade" on the paint jobs. It seems like whenever you find a 1:1 truck in real life.... as nice as this RC truck is representing....they're always from the southwest...and rustfree...but the paint's always faded from the years in the sun. I just think that makes em look cool....in my book. I like faded red and white, orange and white, blue and white, green and white and faded yellow and white. Any of those combos would look cool on that nice of a truck ! I also like the faded solid colors but I believe that the two-toned look brings out this truck's key features and details really well. . . . Last edited by BiG_DaWgZ; 05-24-2009 at 11:42 AM. |

I'd suggest that, given the quality of the scratch built body, you have to find some samples of original Willys colors and do it justice. Some light weathering would really sell the idea of this being a daily driver/trail rig. Maybe look at paintscratch.com and see if they have any Willys paint samples. |

Man, this thing is sure hopping around. Glad to see you got the truck, still sad to see it gone, I loved that thing but sue to this economical mess, I was foced to part with it. I still have the scale drawings for it if it helps with the interior. Let me know. Won't hurt my feelings if you paint it but I vote for weathered, that's what I was going to do but never did. Enjoy!!

Hey Guys - It finally arrived yesterday,( ) and here are some show and tell pics... The amount of work that went into this truck is absolutely amazing.. This trucks body is by far the neatest R/C item I have EVER seen.. Although period correct and neat looking, the wheels that came on this truck just didn't do it ANY justice, so off they came and on went these RC4WD Truescale beadlocks ( with the blue anodizing removed from the trim rings), and some Cad To Chrome "Warn" front hubs and rear "floater" style hubs.. And heres a size comparision to my Yota Rock Truggy.. I never realized it before, but this is a ONE piece body, ( which is pretty COOL ) and it is held to the chassis by 4 screws.. I DO however have to repair a few places on it, including the front grille ( which is missing the center "slat") and also build some kind of tool/storage box for the rear, to cover the hole where the battery wires run for the headlights And here is the business end of things below.. I am going to re-build the suspension because the way I got it, all 4 leaf springs were bent and twisted way out of shape, and they need to be corrected. I am also going to be replacing those ugly and "not scale" stock shocks, as well as trying to lower the ride height a bit too.. |

Do us all a favor and put the stock wheels back on. Chip tried to change the wheels too, and we all know how that worked out. Dont mess with perfection. |

Damn!!! He beat it up! The box in the back to hide the battery for the lights was originally a 60's barbie cooler, 7up to be exact and he obviously kept that. The grill is a bummer but you can fix that. The springs were mint when I sold it. Looks like chip had his fun and passed on it because it is rare I guess. I dig the wheels, I like my originals too but those look good too. Just don't kill it ok. Thanks. Oh, there is about 60 hours in the body before primer and paint. |

Oh and if you want to part with the tranny, let me know, I will buy it back. That was very hard for me to come up with and weld up.
