Default Nat's 77 Dodge "Macho" Powerwagon Hardbody

Well I finally broke down waiting for someone to come out with a 70's dodge hardbody so I took matters into my own hands. I started with a standard clod body and waved my magic styrene wand and this is where we are!

I thought that someone would have converted a clod body by now so I guess its up to me!

I am going after a 77 Dodge Macho power wagon. The macho styling package was offered between 77 and 81 in long bed and short bed configurations.

This stripe package was available 79 and 80

Started by grinding out the wheel lip and sheeting the upper body like and sides with .030

Next continued the contour up the cab and changed the window line on the door. Also started to for the wheel well bulges.

Next formed recess's in hood. I cut the shape on 3 sides after I filled in the hood scoop hole and recessed into the hood and reinforced from behind. Also sheeted the roof closer to a dodge roof line.

Heres a mock up on a chassis for my crew cab. Obviously the chassis is too long and wont be used on this build.

The tailgate is roughed in, I used 2 clod talgates. Cut at different body lines then grafted together. Still need to clean it up and work in the rear tail lights.

Its comin along nicely still have a couple spots to touch up with the icing before I start with the primer. Also have to add the drip rails and molding on the cab and a contour down the center of the hood.

Looks great Nat! I had a 78 Ramcharger that I made into a soft top pick up and a canback topped 77 Plymouth Trailduster so I am a fan!!!!

Nice work!

Baaah, who cares what they say...The whole point of the clod body is just a base to work off of. There is one difference that I wish that I could change but I think it would compromise the roof structuraly.

I know a guy that has one of those Machos right up the road from me, it's been rode rough but it's still there! I should see if he would let it go, I know it has not been registered since 9o.

I like this build idea!
