Man, I'm really liking the look of the 1.9 stretched over the 2.2 wheel.
How tough was it to get the tire on?
Have you tried it with the 1.9 PL SX?
I bet it'd be tough to mount them on 2.2 Steelies because of the way the wheel is designed.

looking good! cant wait for you to start bolting parts on!
Yea, the steelies are cool, I have a couple more sets i'm going to do something with.
One set of the aluminum wheels is just turned on the lathe and done. The other set i scuffed up with a scotch brite pad to make it a little dull.

Johnny, Ill put a 1.9 TSL SX on a rim tonight to show you.. I think they are a little short to look good on a 2.2 though.
It was very easy to mount the tire because of the design. Yes, i would imagine the 2.2 steelie to suck to strecth a 1.9 on.

Look what came in the mail from Canada! GCM Metal Head's! Thanks Generis!

Got it all laid out for inspection..

I'm pretty impressed with the machine work but, there is one spot on the outside profile of the center section's that somebody must have missed. Either an endmill chipped out on someone and they didn't see it or they just let it go. Oh well, I'll clean it up.

I may also look into making AR60 length tubes for these axles.

..Might even have to UP it a class.

Well, I have successfully made GCM60 tubes.

I made 3 sets. One set is for me, another set for a buddy and then the last set will go up for sale in the future to an RCC member via the classifieds section. Please note: I will not be making anymore of these tubes.

Its not easy to tell what your looking at in these first two pictures..it just looks like tubes but, here they are..

(left) Original front GCM Tubes, (middle) GripFab long side, (right) GripFab short side:

(left) Original rear GCM Tubes, (middle) GripFab long side, (right) GripFab short side:

Here's the rear axle mocked up along side a plastic wraith axle:

front:

Here they are put together with vanquish aluminum goodies.. I have the wheel/tire combo I'm going to use mocked up as well:

And finally, here they are mocked up under my FJ:

I'm excited to get work done on this thing and get it finished. It has definitely upped a class. I'll have to get this moved over to the 2.2 section.

This will be my new Class3 rig and my TTC truck for this year

Those look great!

GCM can make these if someone wants long tubes, you just have to send a special request when you order.

At that width, the pumpkin looks much better in proportion. (And it's even smaller than the AR60 pumpkin, so should mean a little better clearance)

Can't wait to see this thing done and on the rocks!

I was waiting for someone to do this great job!! I was wandering if you could do the same thing but make them slightly shorter so you could use XR10 axles?

Yeah, I believe GCM is accepting custom length tube orders but, the thing is.. You have to tell them how long you want them. I don't know about you but, For my small brain, engineering them to work right with the AR60 stuff was the hard part.. Machining them was the easy part.

Yeah, I thought about doing a XR10 axle setup but, Went with the AR60 style instead. I originally wanted to do AR60 front axle and a XR10 hybrid rear axle with a centered pumpkin but, I would end up with two different widths of axles. But, I'm happy with what I have for now.

I may have had a large part in designing the GCM axle...

I think an XR-10 width axle would be great for my 2.2 TTC build, but AR60's would be too wide. These actually look ok under the FJ...

Really I want to totally redo the MetalHead axle, but since I'm a lowly engineer in training (still in school) without a machine shop, I'm at the mercy of the machinist.

Haven't got much done on this truck lately.. I still have a couple of months to get ready for the TTC. Here's a couple of pictures of the axles..
