Default Punk Rock 45

Edit: Had this moved from Newbie General.

I learned to braze for this build so I decided to stick it here. I'll update specs more later.

Thanks. Not sure if I'm going to do panels or not partly for that reason. I'm not big on lexan panels with huge screw heads, kind of ruins the look IMO. Doors and cab may be steel. Bed will def. be steel. I'd like to do an aluminum roof. I have some ideas for that.

If I do panels I'm trying to think of a good way to keep the nuts in place and flush while brazing. I'm thinking of using a piece of aluminum to mount them to. Any tips appreciated.

Thanks, it should hold up. I'd mount it a little different next time but I guess time will tell whether 4 anchor points to the axle are good.

Thanks. It's simply narrowed, not dovetailed. Dovetailing it would require pie cutting it which could result in too many pieces to patch back together. I simply ran a strip of electrical tape down the center as a guide and removed it. I used the hood from a Bushwhacker and the bezel from a Tamiya. 2 pieces will hopefully give it a little more strength.

Sure, it's not too hard with a guide. Gives you a chance to make sure it's good and straight. Good luck!

Honestly you'd be fine just eyeing it, just make sure they're straight and centered, as best as can be eyeing it anyway.

Thanks. Guess I'm not really a newbie, just a newbie to brazing. Never wanted to throw down the $$ when I could get similar results for pennies worth of welding wire. Couldn't have made the trusses w/o brazing though. It's also way easier to make changes, simply reheat and remove.

Thanks. Pretty time consuming but I'm happy with them. Front will be three link with a panhard bar if it works out.
