That is a stupid amount of rust and is freaking awesome. Thanks for the heads up on Michaels. The fourth pic really makes the rusty parts shine.?.?.?

Awesome rust job! I did a rust job on my 78 Ford as well but didn't turn out as well as yours. I used testors rust enamel 1185 so the rust is only one shade...perhaps I'll have to go look for that two part stuff you used. Good job!

Thanks guys!!! At first the rust was a pretty uniform color but over time it seems to be changing up a bit. I also tried to make it more like the real truck and add big blotches in places that would be more rusty than the others. My real truck had the entire cab roof and hood covered but in different shades lol. Its fun stuff to play with thats for sure. I have to touch it up every time I crawl tho cause it scrapes off like any other paint.

It keeps looking better and better. I gotta ask though, how the hell do you bend a solid steel link, and not break the plastic rod end or the link tab on the axle? lol.

I asked myself the SAME thing that day when I looked at it. I thought "oh no big deal just another broken rod end" NOPE!!! To top it off, I took it apart last night to fix and the rod end unscrewed and didnt have anything wrong with it. I heated up the link, bent it back out and screwed the same end back on and now it appears to be ready for more What a wierd bit of carnage.

I appreciate the kind words, she was built cheap with more time than money invested and she turned out uuuuuuuuugly...just the way I wanted!!! I DO have some minor updates tho. Took her back to Shanty Hollow for an STR ride and beat the piss outta the ole Mule. I took out the old FatIrons this time around on a set of widened 1.9 hummer wheels to see if they would help in the mud...and boy did they!!! I was able to make lines I couldnt before. Its a shorter tire which helps on inclines plus it has a deeper tread pattern which helped in the sloppy mud. Unfortunately...I killed all 4 widened wheels in this trip which blew my mind cause Ive abused em for YEARS now with no issues lol

I didnt stop there, I just kept riding and they held together enough to get me back to the car. I did take another bad tumble and bent the same rear link in the same spot and stripped a rod end on another which made things interesting but again...I kept bashing.

This video shows the muddy slopes we messed around on. You can see a couple shots of the Courier but at the very end you can see the mule attempting a line that I made with it earlier in the day, but numerous (failed) attempts by others and the broken wheel/bent and loose rear suspension kept me from another glory pass lol. Watch the rear suspension movin all over!

Muddin Video

I have since replaced the rear links and tossed the 4.5" Irons back on and will eventually fix the old school wheels for more abuse. No other pics, im gonna have to get another speed control before the Mule and the Bronco are back but soon enough!!!

So is there any plans for selling the 77style grille decals? That is the main thing i dont like about these bodies, ive always preferred the 73-77 grilles.

Btw the rust treatment looks sweet!

Well, after serving its time on the shelf, I thinks its about time to get the Mule runnin again!!! I am slowly (and cheaply) searching for an ESC and a servo as we speak. In the mean time, I took some time to straighten a few things out and added a couple new panels fresh from the Junkyard.

Step side bed from an 83 F150 I found in the yard. Still need a tailgate and some tail-lights but in good shape otherwise!

Also got the 4.5" TSLs mounted on some Axial wheels and ready for abuse

I also took the rear shock caps with the rod end mod off and replaced them with stock caps. Now she sits lower and I like the stance alot better. Before, I was using softer springs in the rear so the shock cap mod made it taller and looked better. Now Im back running stock rear springs which handle better but made the rear too tall. All is well now. Cant wait to get the pesky electronics ironed out and back on the trail again!

Thanks guys! When I first put it together I ran it almost exclusively, like I tend to do with my rigs. Shanty Hollow roughed it up the couple times I went and I finally decided to shelf it and give the Courier some much needed love. Now its time for the Mule to get back into the rotation!!! The BlueBronco is comin back too which has got me very excited! I love having multiple rigs, when they get old or wore out I can put em on the shelf and move on, then after a little while Ill dig em back out, freshen em up and beat the piss out of em again!
