Default T5 Truck (this is going to be a slow build)

Just won my bid on a metal semi truck. Plan on building a T5 Rally Raid truck. I've never built a scale rig and I have no clue what I'm doing. Just some pics of the truck I bought and the trucks I want it to look like in the end. Time to start building.

Picked up some aluminum, screws and metal saw blades at Home Depot. For now I thank the Losi Mini Pro will be donating its drive train. Might go Axial later but the Losi axles look to be a good width for the truck. Going to do a simple box frame. Thinking of leaf springs... Maybe trailing arm set up on the rear, undicided.

Axials would be way too wide even for the Tamiya globeliner I had. Def Losi's or TLT's

You're blowing my mind! I had that truck when I was a kid! We're talking 30 years ago! I can remember the day I took it to school in my backpack against my mom's will! What a flashback!

Ya, when I saw it I knew it was the cab I wanted. I was looking for a vintage metal truck. Toys just aren't that cool any more.

I'm going to try and use the trailer for my box. I want to shorten it and keep the roll up door.

Got my work area ready. Got the Losi Pro tore down. Started to build the frame but stopped. I decided to wait for the truck to get here first so I can really get a feel for wheel base and such. Hope to get the truck by the end of the week.

These will be my tires. Want to run some mil spec looking wheels, still looking. Picked up a Traxxas water tight box, I'll still need to get another. If only the ideas in my head could just land on my work bench...

The new RC4wd Ural Russian Military wheel is PERFECT for a T5 as the Tatra and Kamaz rig usually run similar styles...of course they're big bucks though.

It's weird to have spent the last 6 months researching a build and to rip it out in a few weeks...then have it gone LOL. Now I have all of this useless info in my head

I need recommendations for the motor/esc. I want this to have decent wheel speed and be able to handle slow speed rougher section. I'm new to the trail rigs so any input will be helpful. I will be using the transmission from the Losi Mini Pro.
Thanks ahead of time for any and all input.

I think they will match the build.

Ordered some Tamiya leaf springs from Hobby Warehouse. Can't win them all on ebay.
