Default Fj40 on narrowed wraith axles chop chop

If it were me, I'd put a diagonal bar in and then a support. Something sort of like this. This build is so awesome! I love how it looks! Great work!

Started on some door tube work . Tried to keep the chassis lines going. I think the first side turned out perfect

Finally finished cleaning all the welds up And mocking the interior up . It was time to choose colours for this rig and my son's ultra 4 build so I consulted Him and we pondered over the selection Of paints I have on hand and whaaaaa bam . We came up with this . Thanks for following my build

So since the last Update a lot has happened to this rig . For one I repainted the chassis blue the panels and hood orange . This colour change was implemented by my son telling me no dad you got the colours mixed up . So I removed the orange and now have this .

I slapped the electronics in and did the chassis set up . Changed out the rear springs for 4 axial green springs and put in some 40 wt shock oil . Front shocks I put 35 wt shock oil in . Steering works Like a frigin champ lock to lock. Wheel base is 13 1/4 inches I might pull it to 13 to get a little better break over but it's fun to drive right now . It side hills like it has velcro tires . So decided to make inner fender wells . Used gorilla tape for those and mounted all the electronics permanently .

nice looking FJ!
have any pics of how you did the steering? i understand the faux hydro steer, but i see you center-mounted your servo - where did you find clearance for the steering link?

OK so when I built the servo mount I put the center of the steering link off the servo in the center of the upper and lower link mounts . I put a little bend in the steering Link to clear the the upper link closer to the axle . Everything stays the same geometry wise as the suspension travels up and down .

Thanks for the compliment. The blue looks much better in the sun , under the Florescent it changes .

Thanks it performs very very well for having the ultra 4 style rear suspension. It is very predictable

OK so here are some pics of the steering set up . I had to make 2 aluminum Arms up One for the back of the knuckle but had to make it to clear the base of the shock mount.

I've been wanting to do a steering like that since the wheels king came out with it. Looks like a great setup and the scale hydo is icing on the cake.

Ya I love the hydro look , I am gonna buy a protek servo to replace this s6030 I am using now . 277 oz works not bad but why not run 500 oz . The more I drive it the better it feels still tuning spring tension trying get it dialed in . It crawls well but does better with a little throttle. Running a waterproof brxl,35t HH expert, WITH A 80t spur and 22t pinion , transfer case is 1.47:1 so it's not very fast but launches it's 8.1lbs around easy with no heat issues

Nice build. What size is the build plate with the holes and where can I pick up one?

I like the rig. That steering setup is very cool; do you get any bump steer as the axle cycles?

I also really like the front axle truss you whipped up. The shocks on top of the axle like that is a good idea; definitely solves the tire clearance issue.

I'm going to subscribe to this thread so I can rip off your idea on a future build!
