| SBG 'Stinky Ass Acres Crawler''
Over on the Scale Builders Guild there having a Build Off Comp. I'd like to post my progress here as well. Inspiration is this rather ratty Jeep Willys Pickup. I'm going to take inspiration from this and turn it into a Crawler. Pile of Parts few missing but I can get to them later. Driveline first Axial Trans Ebay Transfer Case dremelled the skid plate to get it to sit alot lower so a full interior could be done. Fabbed up a Mount for the Trans up front so a full interior could be done. Joined up with a Shortened Driveshaft. Floor and Cab Back next on the list bit of styrene no big deal. So I have been learning to tig weld and after much swearing came up with the all Steel Front Fenders. As its very addictive I knocked up a Hood as well needs a little grind off the lower edge but i'm super pleased with it. |

First off, I love the inspiration Willys. One of these days I will add an early Willys truck to my collection. The build is great. What gauge steel did you use for the hood? |

I thought I read somewhere to use vinegar and salt. I did a quick search...a link is easier than explaining. 4 Ways to Make Metal Rust - wikiHow |

Back at this after a little break. Got one of the Doors done, decided against tube doors and instead went for a cut down version. Also added some tiny magnets to attach it so i can get at the inside better later on. Next up the Sun Visor and Vent on the top panel. Then the back I did originally make this out of styrene but wasn't happy with it. It wasnt in keeping with the front end of the truck. So I tigged/brazed a modified version of an original Jeep Bed. Its everso slightly pinched at the back. Also made the top part bar instead of flat panelled. Still got the Wood to put in the bottom and also the shock mounts small amount of tidying up. Tailgate is also fully functional. |

Make a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and bleach. Brush it on. Rust starts instantly.

Awesome! If you have a craft store around, we have Michaels and Hobby Lobby, they usually sell a 3-part rust kit, brush it on, and it makes even plastic rust.
