Thanks Cooper. I enjoy working with metal and continue to improve my skills. Working at this tiny scale has presented new challenges.

I am just about done with the fabrication on DaddyJeep Jr. Shock hoops are done, track bar bracket is done (not pictured), electronics mount is in. I need to finish up the steering servo mount and clean u p the welds and it is ready for paint.

Not much of what i did last night is picture worthy. I finish welded the lower chassis, ground everything smooth, and threw some paint on it. At least that part gets a pic.

I also finished up the sliders and prepped the body panels for paint.

I like how the cage/body can be removed from the actual frame. Good thinking. Can't wait to see this thing finished.

A little more color last night and started re-assembly

I planned to two piece chassis so I can build a second lower chassis for high speed stuff. I will get back to the high speed IFS lower chassis at some point.

I got the Jeep to the point of functioning this weekend and ran it in its first comp. Here is a shot showing the drag link and track bar.

Another shot showing the track bar mount on the axle.

Finally one from after the comp.

I have a lot of details to post up here, but didn't take the time during the mad rush to finish to get any pics. I will get it caught up. I have most of an interior done. the tonnau cover turned out real good.

I also managed a 4th place in class 3 and mid pack in Class 2 yesterday even fighting with terrible steering. The stock Wraith servo was having trouble turning the tires unless I was moving and the tie rod might as well be made out of spagjhetti. I also had a failure with the receiver or the radio so I had to rob parts from my son's truck.

Custom tonnau cover that I threw together to finish up the back.

[IMG][/IMG]

Jerry can and Axe. Every Jeep needs those

[IMG][/IMG]

Shifter, pop bottle, and ammo can on the tranny tunnel

[IMG][/IMG]

I added some character to the hood during the first comp. I finished 4th out of 11 trucks in Class 3. I was pretty happy with that for the first run on the new truck. I had issues with the steering servo so it wouldn't turn until I was moving. That cost me a lot of points, even caused me to hit a gate. I picked up a Solar D772 servo to address the steering issue. In addition to the servo I need to build a tie rod. The Wraith tie rod is terrible.

[IMG][/IMG]

I found that my rear drive shaft is hitting the upper link so I am going to have to come up with a solution for that.

Went on a club run yesterday. We encountered a little of the gooey brown stuff and I couldn't help but get into the throttle a little.

[IMG][/IMG]

I got a shot of the Jeep on the rocks showing the grill I machined. It still needs paint and headlights, but at least it looks like a YJ now.

[IMG][/IMG]

The Solar D772 steering servo is a little taller than the Axial servo so I am going to have to adjust the mount a little to get the hood to close properly.
