Work horse with 1.55 wheels. If you don't like it then you can always lift it and put 2.2 wheels on it and have the polar expedition one. |

looking nice, It's a different kind of body that you don't see much of,and that Sochi version would look cool....Great inspiration vehicle to.. I'm subscribe.. 2.2 would look cool they may look big considering your wheel base is only 10.34 but if it works go for it...I like the silver if there the 1.9's. |

Cut the wheel arches to get a better look at the finished tire/fender gap. Liking the silver wheel choice so far. Subscribed!

The 1.9 wagon wheels look very scale my guess is the 1.9s will perform better it just depends on which one is most important to you. Nice build the VW truck looks great.

| Re: VolksWagen Amarok Thanks. I thought it would be a fun build but the stock Tamiya Chassis WT-01 didn't look like it would do the trick. Quote:

That's why I have 2 Suzukis and one VW.. Quote:
I'm trying not to lose those.. For tire coverage. The 1.9s do look better and are a bit heavier than the 1.55s. I'll get the base coat of white on it to see the bodylines better soon. Quote:
Luckily with the Sochi option, I can go any way I want and still be scale..

Cool to see a different body choice. Liking the 1.9's myself. Really like the Sochi version.....are you going to try adding the fender extensions?

Not quite exact but AX8095 2.2 Rockster Beadlocks (Black Chrome) looks similar to the sochi version maybe, add/paint black beadlock rings and silver hardware? Looking forward to seeing wherever this build goes! Last edited by professorcake; 12-10-2015 at 08:44 PM. |

At least you get to get around the whole VW diesel emissions debockle and tell them it's electric powered.

Dingo flares look a bit on the Large size. I Would cut the front off of the front flares.

It was a tough decision but decided to paint it white like the Sochi Version. The Wraith Beadlock wheels and HPI Yokohama Geolander M/Ts tires look like a good match. Decals and detail paint after paint cures.. |

looking good! interesting tire choice, pattern is pretty similar to the full scale rig. Is that the stock offset for the wheels? looks about right, nice when things work out like that.

Fender flares to match the Sochi Amarok. I used Dollar Tree Betty Crocker 3.5 Cup Storage Containers. Used the top lip trimmed to size, 2x6mm screws with nut & washers to bolt onto body. Used Square Storage containers for inner fenders. . Also moved the bottom door line up to clear the Rock Sliders. |

Between working on this and that, I decided to work on the Amarok. Cut out and installed a drop down bed.. It's only 1"inch deep but I wanted room to mount a battery under it since I installed the SSD Trans/T-Case combo on it.. Looks like I will be taking 3/4"inch out of the tool box height too. I will also be adding Bed rail caps and Buttonhead screws to hold the bed in. Now I just need to figure out how to mount it all to the chassis.. Another day... ;) Last edited by Zukiiholic; 10-02-2016 at 11:14 PM. |
