One question, why the leaf spring on the inside of the frame rails?

| Re: My Class 1 Raptor build w/ IFS It was the only way it would work without twisting the leafs. The transmission made it a little wider and I don't think this axle was meant to take leafs either. I might have a special Delrin adaptation procedure in the near future to make it work better.

I went hack shop crazy. The dash was not wide enough, so why not cut it and make it wider. I did the same with the rear seat. I also made a floorboard and shortened the rear seat. I'll try to post plenty of photos in the morning. I still have some putty work/smoothing to do on the dash and seat. But with the floorboard in place, it holds the body in place nicely and I was able to drive it in the garage.

PICTURES. We all love the picture books more than the articles. So here are some things I have been able to get started. 1. The JK dash was too narrow. So I hacked it into three pieces and stuck them back together like this. Now it fits the width. I'll have to cosmetic work to the top in order for it fit the window. 2. I made a floorboard that actually fits inside the body so nicely that it holds the body in place up front. I didn't mean to do that, but I did it. 3. The rear seat is also narrow like the dash. So, what's good for the dash must be good for the seats. 4. I used some Delrin in my stock pile to elevate the floor and fasten it to the chassis. It also allows my esc wires to run nicely to the battery. 4. The floorboard is painted and in place with a hole for the tranny. I'll be putting a console over this. Or a blanket. 5. This is my trailer hitch finished. Its painted and I am using a G-Made ball end to attach the future trailer to the truck. I've been thinking about making some chain attachments to the truck from the trailer. I'll think more on that when the time comes to finish the trailer. |

Back seat almost done. I sanded a bit and then put on some thinned flat black paint. It helps me find the imperfections. I know some will say the whole seat is an imperfection, but I can see some little lines that can be smoothed out. I don't think I'll get to it today. I have to lace up and true some BMX wheels for my 14yo. I wish I could do this hobby like I can work on a bike. But then again, I've been working on bikes for over 30 years. |

I went ahead and purchased some brake rotors that double as 12mm hexes. Here they are before and after installation. I'm also working on the windows and the interior at this point. I think I came up with a plan to anchor the front of the body to the chassis by using the inner door panels and the floorboard of the interior. I'm gonna wing it as I get those parts done. |

i would suggest trying to use the tinted plastic for the moon/sun roof, as they tend to be. Also, excellent build!!

I had originally thought of trying to tint that small piece with film. But that DOES NOT work. I might look into that. Thanks for the suggestion. I might have to go back through and change a few other windows as well. | |

So the door panels are simple. The black was just not showing up much in the interior, so I skimped and kept it simple. Next, I hand painted around the windows to get the trim flat black. And I painted the roof a satin black. The inside needs some paint to finish off the inside here and there. And last, I finally put in the windshield. This thing was a booger to make. At least for me. I was expecting to drip glue right in the middle of it or put a finger glue print on it. But, I didn't. It actually looks much better with a windshield. Now, the final points I have to complete this rig are to make a console and taillights that work. Oh yeah, I'm also going to make a trailer for this truck. On to the pictures! |
