damn i love the half doors. i really hope mine come out that well. mine needed a lot of sanding and a bit of putty but its coming along.

about the wheels i would just run them hard. i would think thats the best way to get the realistic wear on them.

looks amazing. i'm blown away...

might i make a few suggestions though?

-bobbed bed, but with a half-hour bob job look
-a little body damage
-missing lug nut
-cracked windshield
-rust-eaten sheetmetal (especially on the bedsides, right behind the tires)

you might already be planning some of this, so sorry in advance if that's the case.

You can use ez-off on the rings, they will have a dull finish when your done, then the wheels you could soak in some salt water then let them air dry, do it a couple times, and it should get the aluminum oxidizing. im not sure if you want to go that route, but it should give you the look your after.

Yea, I am seriously thinking a faded out Orange or Red. So it will have a flat finish mainly because of the Rust/Cancer that will be detailed out on the Bed and Cab.

you should do an undercoat a little brighter or something, and top coat with teh intended color, then after its all dry, take some carb cleaner or something and wipe down the sun exposed areas a few times. that will look like faded paint. (never done it before but i think i will work)

That is just awesome, that is exactly the type of rig I hope to have the skills to build someday. I love the half doors and the toolbox.

Hey Mike LMAO Hey you know I will share my tips and tricks with you. The emblem I take a dremel and cut around the emblem. Which leave the hole on the body. Fill the hole with styrene and then file as closely around the emblem as I did. Then the back you have to sand it until it become some what thin. I suggest not going to thin as it will break really easily. Since this is so small it doesn't need to be the scale thickness cause you cant tell anyway. Then mount with a small piece of round rod just as a real one.

Hey Mog, I am sure you have heard or seen this process. From the back side you take a dremel and begin grinding as close to the skin of the front of the body. You will know you are almost through by holding it up to the light and if you can see through the plastic you are almost to the right depth. Now the two types of Cancer 1) the small bubbles that when I was a kid I would stick my fingers through and poke through the other side. This is done by continuing through very lightly until you slowly take away small parts of the plastic to make pin holes. 2) the kind of Cancer where you can stick your entire hand through. LOL.... this is done the same way but just before you begin to grind through you stop. Then go to the front with a sharp round object such as a mechanical pencil and poke from the front to make tears in the body with holes. Then if needed you can take an Xacto knife and open up the holes and make jagged edges as rusty pieces have fallen off or ripped.
I hope this sort of explains the process.

Great Suggestions and duely noted.
I am not to much for the bobbed bed since I am not doing a full blown rock crawler, I am going more for the Shade Tree Mechanic on a budget build if you will.
The body damage will pretty much amount to the Cancer/Rust holes that are shown and not sure if I will do full body dents or not.
I like the missing lug idea... that would look cool.
The cracked windshield, the original actually has a crack in it. As well it looks like who ever had it before I did dropped super glue or something on it. I like to call it "BIRD CRAP"
As it looks like a bird flew over and took a dump on the windshield and it sort of ran down aways and then tried. Looks very realistic. LOL

Last bullet that is what the holes are on the back of the bed and will have more of them on the cab behind the front tires/rockers.. I remember my old 70 chevy pickup the floor board rusted out and you could see the pavement as you were driving down the highway!

Thank you all for the comments,
