damn i love the half doors. i really hope mine come out that well. mine needed a lot of sanding and a bit of putty but its coming along. about the wheels i would just run them hard. i would think thats the best way to get the realistic wear on them. gil |

looks amazing. i'm blown away... might i make a few suggestions though? -bobbed bed, but with a half-hour bob job look -a little body damage -missing lug nut -cracked windshield -rust-eaten sheetmetal (especially on the bedsides, right behind the tires) you might already be planning some of this, so sorry in advance if that's the case. You can use ez-off on the rings, they will have a dull finish when your done, then the wheels you could soak in some salt water then let them air dry, do it a couple times, and it should get the aluminum oxidizing. im not sure if you want to go that route, but it should give you the look your after.

Yea, I am seriously thinking a faded out Orange or Red. So it will have a flat finish mainly because of the Rust/Cancer that will be detailed out on the Bed and Cab. Last edited by Eviltwin_52s; 04-17-2007 at 03:59 PM. |

you should do an undercoat a little brighter or something, and top coat with teh intended color, then after its all dry, take some carb cleaner or something and wipe down the sun exposed areas a few times. that will look like faded paint. (never done it before but i think i will work) |

That is just awesome, that is exactly the type of rig I hope to have the skills to build someday. I love the half doors and the toolbox. Matt |

I hope this sort of explains the process. Quote:
I am not to much for the bobbed bed since I am not doing a full blown rock crawler, I am going more for the Shade Tree Mechanic on a budget build if you will. The body damage will pretty much amount to the Cancer/Rust holes that are shown and not sure if I will do full body dents or not. I like the missing lug idea... that would look cool. The cracked windshield, the original actually has a crack in it. As well it looks like who ever had it before I did dropped super glue or something on it. I like to call it "BIRD CRAP" As it looks like a bird flew over and took a dump on the windshield and it sort of ran down aways and then tried. Looks very realistic. LOL Last bullet that is what the holes are on the back of the bed and will have more of them on the cab behind the front tires/rockers.. I remember my old 70 chevy pickup the floor board rusted out and you could see the pavement as you were driving down the highway! Thank you all for the comments, | |||
