Thumbs up PIMP builds a new C2 rig....

So Ive sold off most of my rigs and have the urge to build myself a new Class 2 rig. Im a Ford guy and bleed blue so I had a very hard time using any other manufacturer BUT with all the badass VW Bug builds going on I decided to try one out myself.....

After owning many rigs I knew there was a couple things this build had to have:

-Modified Hardbody
-SCX10.2 axles, trans and custom CMS
-Full interior with driver
-12.5" wheelbase
-max scale points allowed
-chassis mounted servo winch
-climb a wall and look absolutely sick as hell doing it

Started off with a Blitzer Beetle hardbody. When I received it, it was smaller than i expected. Nothing a little surgury can't fix. So out came thread, cutoff wheel, glue and styrene......

This:

Went to this:

There will be lots of custom tube work on this one!! Ill update when chassis/cage is mocked up and ready for paint.

-Thanks

Cant wait to see where you go with this.

You can always throw a pinto motor old school style in the rear to stay true to your roots.

Actually its your Bug build that finally convinced me to build one!! Thats funny because I keep telling myself its Ford powered. Ill have to search for a sweet scale engine if I can fit it in my tube work. A lot going in this small space

I spent some hours in the shop over the last few days and came up with this little work of art. Lots of work left but at least its a start.....

I'm not usually a fan of bugs, but this thing looks amazing. Nice work, as always.

Thanks guys ^^^. Im not sure what the chassis weighs but it feels about the same weight as my Truggy chassis. My guess is a 9lb rig when its done and on the rocks.

Time to work on the interior pieces and paint the metal work!!

What are you going to use for the body? Just panels or a bug body from lexan or a hard body?

Ill be using the modified Blitzer hardbody in my first pics. Hardest part is hiding the "C" pillar gap. Because I extended the body 2" it kinda leaves a weird gap between the b and c pillars. I think my tube work and cage layout hid the extension pretty nice. Ill post a body on pic when I get back to it this weekend.

I'm liking this. Not sure if I'd ruin the build with a ford motor though...

I vote for a Big block mopar.. with a tunnel ram. (Don't look at my username, it's 5 years old I was young and stupid)

Kidding of course. Looking great keep it up! Lol.
