Default The northkona SCXii Raptor pre-runner.

I have had this chassis for about 6 months while I decide what to do with it, I've finally settled on building a Pre-runner using the Proline Raptor 3345 body. I'll be cutting the tray out and using tube and sheet to build the rear . Here is where I got my inspiration.

And this is how it sits right now. Its painted copper on the inside and I'll be painting blue on the outside so as it scratches the copper comes through looking like rust.

Here's the bumper I've built up for it, its 8mm and 6mm stainless tube , capped on the ends and a couple of gussets added for looks.

And some other sweet bits ive started on are the trailing arms. Made from 0.6mm titanium sheet laser welded together. 165mm eye to eye and 20g/0.7oz and strong as hell.

This is my workshop, I could quite happily spend all day in here , it doesn't happen very often though.

One on loan. So if it ever breaks you can just take it back to work. Dam that's ridiculous

Mock-up of the shock hoops and trailing arms. I absolutely hate body clips and love a hinged body so this is going to have the roll cage mounted to the body and the shocks mounted to the chassis. I'm making this up as i go but I think it will come together pretty good. The front bumper will be chassis mounted, the rear will be body mounted and it will hinge at the rear.

I finished the shock hoops , now I want to make a double shear axle mount for the trailing arms. The front mount will be built into the sliders and double shear as well.

Haha , yeah, to do an exact replica IFS would be great but the steering and strength of the AR44 axles cant be beaten. I want to build an IFS setup with 3mm stainless tube but the main problem with most of the existing IFS is lack of steering. This rig is so long it will need a ton of turn.

I have just about given up any hope of receiving the order of stainless tube from China , so I decided to start again with the tube I already have. The smaller stuff is 4mm but it is a really soft mix so I'll use it for parts that will be protected inside the body.
This build has changed direction from the first thought. After seeing about 5 blue pre-runners getting about in various forums , this is now going to be murdered out black and have a bit of rat to it , not too pretty !

Spare tire spinoff and mount made for the rear. Welding a bit of 3mm wire to a nyloc nut without deforming the nylon is something that can only be done with a laser welder , great results.
