Ok...... flat belly isn’t complete without some tube and gussets. I am excited about the outcome of slider/ floor phase 1.

Outer bars.......check.

I need to shave and shape the lower tamiya step and role out the fender to match the contour of the rod. But next I’m tying the new outer bar into the chassis with some tube.

Thanks you fellas. This is the layout I’m leaning towards. I might run a smaller rod considering it it very solid as is. I will bend and burn the inner corners of the floor plate when I decide.

This has been my distraction.

Weather has been so nice. Have to take advantage.

Default The Bug Named Roach

Some pretty solid updates to report on Roach.

Got the sliders buttoned up other than a little clean up.

Also tacked in front steering and winch servo cross members. Bumpers next......

Knocked out a front bumper this morning. I might add something under to hide the steering arm......

Now I need to figure something out for the rear end.

That's the direction I am leaning..... There is several VW engine options.... Have any pics of what you did Venomous98? Links to preferred engines to use would be awesome...... I saw a Porsche motor on shapeways that was pretty rad.....

I just used the RPM engine/blower i found at my local hobby shop. Pretty cheap. Here is a link to my build, hopefully the pics still work. Some were posted from photobucket.

If you have access to a 3D printer here's a cheap option that you could print yourself. You'd have to scale it down as it's 1/5 scale but that's easy enough to do.

Now you have me looking a Scorcher bodies, they aren't too expensive for a hard body which is awesome.

If you search shapeways for sand scorcher you can get sucked down a rabbit hole of amazing but expensive prints, some of those might be helpful to look at for rear bumper/cage ideas.

They are cool bodies and can be picked up with all the bells on the Bay for cheap IMO...... Glass interior everything.... I have been looking at shapeways and hate like hell to pay $100 for plastic... But my hand could be forced on this one.... Someone hit me with a link if they have any reasonable options.... This is my hold up...

You're not wrong there you can spend hundreds on little plastic do-dads. I was more thinking along the lines of look at their designs just for inspiration on what to build yourself (rear bumper or cage)

Oh. That one buzzed by me. Yes I am seeing a few variations of the rear cage. Very helpful thank you. I think I have a direction planned out. I’m gonna do a tad more engine research and bite the bullet. Buy a slick printed engine and protect the little diamond with some cool (hopefully) tube work. Thanks my brother.

Roach is on the table for step one of a proper rear end makeover.
