Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon 1 more cause I can.. RC4WD military tire on Gmade steel wheel. Waiting on 3d printed wheel cover to see what it works with. ] Still working on the right color of green tho... Windows still masked.. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Received the 3-D printed center section today. The piece snaps right into the G-Made wheels. Flanged Nut fits fine.. Nut driver..... Doesn't fit in the hole to tighten nut.. ??? http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4440-67129.jpg |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon That's going to look good. You should paint the Gmade wheel underneath a rusty brown color to simulate a brake drum behind the truck wheel. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Hub caps look good. Do you have a build thread for this? If not, you should create one...it's truly worth it. "thumbsup" |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon 4 Attachment(s) Progressing slowly, but making progress... Installed the Shapeways bumper for the Power Wagon. I had to modify it a little to get it mounted up. I added an aluminum angle plate and installed a TF2 aluminum bumper mount for strength. Also installed the RC4WD winch motor so the reel would sit correctly in place. Added the winch line and hook. The winch is not functional but can be made to be, later on. Also, finished the dash, painted the mirrors, and made some wipers. Trying to get the interior done this weekend. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Very nice. Dash is killer. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon I really can't wait to see how this is going to turn out. I'm really tempted to do a PW build myself but I just don't think i can put this level of detail into it. Great job so far and I can't wait to see more "thumbsup" |

Progress from today, before the rain started. Interior is just about done, just waiting on my driver to arrive. I wasn't going for a totally accurate interior, just a facsimile representing it. I might add a seat console so he has a place to put his drink. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon OMG! you're killing me with the interior details.. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4439-67149.jpg |

Just kidding Zuki. Have a thread for yours yet? |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Amazing detail, Great job!!! It's great builds and attention to details like this make me feel like a hack!! But I keep trying!! Keep it up!! |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Damn fine build, damn fine!. Agree not enough Dodges..and not enough 30s, 40s, 50s trucks coming from lexan shell makers. would have thought they would have clocked by now with the Powerwagon being so popular. One question, if I may, the "glove box" ID plates, how did you manage them. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Quote:

For the ID plates, I searched Google for some clear pics of the badges, then copied them together in a group, reduced them to the appropriate size and printed them out on regular paper. Then I cut out the group and placed them, face up, onto the sticky side of aluminum duct tape, and covered them with the matte scotch tape. Then made sure they were flat by rubbing them gently. Cut them out with sharp scissors and super glued them in place in the "glove box". If you decide to do this, be very careful about the amount of glue you apply to the "ID plates". Too much will squish out and make a mess. I would practice on some extra plates, to see how much to use. It doesn't take alot to make them secure. Good luck. "thumbsup" |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Awesome build with supah detail! Thanks for the glove box plates tip! :) |

Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Many thanks taking the time for such a full explanation of your method, and the link. I had looked for ages trying to find those images good enough to reproduce. Now all my geriatric brain has to do is continue my daily fight with modern computer superiority! |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon This looks great! |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon 3 Attachment(s) Between work and the flu, my interest has been minimal. I was able to get a couple things done but it's just a small update. I had no idea the headlights were such a chore. Undecided if I want to leave them clear to add lights later or just use the decals. Hacked in some wheel wells and mounted an appropriately sized driver. Made a dip in the seat so he sits correctly and not too high, then screwed in some little screws, to hold him in place. Last thing to do, before paint, is to figure out a mounting system for the bed. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Looking good 58 willys. Keep up up the beautiful work. Will continue to follow . Thanks. Bob. |
Re: TF2 1946 Power Wagon Know what you mean with the light buckets! What a faff. Maglight AA reflectors fit perfectly in the lamp shell if you want, and Gmade Sawback light decals are perfect...did a thing in the body and paint section a while back showing them. Driver looks most comfy in there..looking good all round. |
