Sweet thanks and I was asking about the resin casting for the body so I have a beautiful crewcab to build off of.

obijuan 03-07-2007 10:24 AM

oh sh*t i didnt think of that, i wonder if i could vacuum form it into lexan. hmmmmmmmmm thanks for the idea i could definatley do resin casting but i would have to do a bunch of them to make it worhtwhile.

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 01:29 PM

Yea well I definatley think you should make them.. in different styles too because I'm sure people are looking for a variety of the older chevys. Suburban, Blazer, Crewcab Dually, Singlecab Dually, Crewcab, Singlecab Short Bed, Crewcab Long Bed and even just the Dually fenders themselves.. for attachment to whatever you wish. I've seen Suburbans with dually fenders and I thinkit's actually kinda cool. I would buy one I know that. Other than that, can't wait to see more progress! Lookin great so far. Oh and do you have the measurements on your frame?

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 05:24 PM

Damn. I forgot one of the best trucks from Chevy, the Stepside!

obijuan 03-07-2007 05:45 PM

yeah thats on the list too, i am aiming here for my fleet i WILL have in full size rigs at one point in my life. heres the 85 K30 3+3, it will be towin the white 85 blazer with 60/14 sb400/465/205 4.56 w/detroit and arb. the wifes driving a 77 3+3 dually for the rug rats, there will be the 77 two tone russet mettallic and white short bed big blocked parts getter, then the burb for parts. and the red 87 FI 350/700/241 stepside just to have.

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 05:48 PM

Bad ***.. I'm looking for a 4x4 Blazer for a daily driver. So lol you got the measurements on the frame?

obijuan 03-07-2007 06:05 PM

right right right, chill home skillet. get it in 10minutes ok?

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 06:10 PM

Ok lol sorry I just I'm so jealous of yours I wanna get started on mine. You bent it with a tubing bender right? Did you heat it up first?

obijuan 03-07-2007 06:34 PM

so what more than 10 minutes whatever. i did this just for you and i have a tubing bender in my garage that was like 75 bucks fron northern tool n equipment. basically a harbor freight. this stuff is so easy to bend you dont need to heat it. you can do it between two hard places like a vise but thats pretty tricky. then when it was still one piece i hammered out the bend marks so it was perfectly flat, then i cut it and it warped and then i bent it back flat. here ya go
keep in mind it has a little rake in it from the factory "thumbsup" its about 20.5 inches in lenght. not the lenght of the piece i used i dont know that.

if i were you i would drop the front spring hangar down to 3.75 to account for the mediocre pinion angle

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 06:42 PM

Thank You very much. I will go and get started. umm not to be greedy or any thing but where were your bends made? Like the first bend starts at ?'' sorry.. you don't have to if you don't want to.

or... you couldjust raise the front shock mount upp just a bit"thumbsup"

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 06:45 PM

That wouldn't fix the pinion angle. You would just be forcing against the leaf springs, Which is why he said drop the spring hanger down. It's Ok we're all learning ;-)

obijuan 03-07-2007 07:12 PM

the first bend is like an inch in and after that you can figure i out with what i gave you already also it flares out in the belly to about 7cm from ~5-6cm

Crawlin Around 03-07-2007 09:28 PM

Son of a bit**. I basically just fu**ed a $7 piece of steel... Heres what mine looks like http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...life/frame.jpg

obijuan 03-08-2007 07:26 AM

.

make it a dually for fender flares

maybe a chop up a pumpkin or older blackfoot body

obijuan 03-08-2007 09:16 PM

well i just picked up six boggers and now i just gotta pick up a set of dual wheels and i will have interchangeable beds. then for the duals i will run bruiser leafs to drop it down a little for the smaller tires. but its in the works, i saved the bed from the second body. im getting better at working with styrene so keep an eye out.
