Thanks for the come back. I have about 6 feet of the same tubing sitting here and was unsure if I should use it for my ladder style frame build. I was kind of looking for some thinner stuff personally but I may give this stuff a try.

Oh and thanks for the link to the chev frame specs. I am hoping to duplicate my 86 that I used to have. I am trying to gather up other needed supplies for that build.

Crawlin Around 03-10-2007 02:35 PM

Good luck I tried and failed miserably lol. I think it's only because the tubing bender I was using was for 1:1 vehicles ;-)

obijuan 03-10-2007 02:35 PM

well i got my tranny the other day so i put it in and did up the drivelines! WOO HOO! it rolls on its own power now and i gotta say the 8t pinion is junk. its so slow but it will climb anything. how about that belly clearance!? it does really good and i need to figure out a way to mount the battery above the front axle. took it out for its first run today and its awesome to drive.
what do yall think? about the mounting of the battery and the mounting of the esc right on the trans? thanks

It looks good,I want it, but your driveline angles are a little "XTREME!" dont you think? LOL

obijuan 03-10-2007 02:40 PM

also my dremel took a **** on me last night!! wtf man, i was drilling the holes for the r2 and it started smokin! lol the speed controller for teh variable speed must have fried. its only off or on full speed. and its only 8 months old! damn this sucks.

crawlin around, you just need to not bend it so much. bend less more often.

you would think that wouldnt you? but there is no binding at all and it really performs smoothly. then only binding i have is when i turn to full lock to the right. but thats because of the over grinding of the drive cups and the steering stopper things.

Crawlin Around 03-10-2007 02:58 PM

O ok well here I just took a pic of my frame on top of cd's (cause they are the same size everywhere) so you can see the extremity of my bends

obijuan 03-10-2007 03:08 PM

wow... you should start over.the total height should not exceed 1.25 inches off the ground.

Crawlin Around 03-10-2007 03:26 PM

I only have a small piece of steel left, it's totally straight and its like 20 or 19 in long

obijuan 03-11-2007 10:22 PM

made good progress on the interior the past few days. its raining like crazy here and i really wanted to go out and run around, so i did to test out the new 19t pinion. it was doing really good curb climbin and stuff then i broke the ear off the servo mount thing. its brand damn new. so i switched it to the other side of the frame rail. should work pretty good now and maybe help with the steering? who knows. heres the dash frame all made up, let me know what yall think: sorry if theyre too dark for your screen, theyre from the dungeon.

I Hate You.. LOL I wish I was that good with plastic and steel lol

Rat1 03-12-2007 10:43 AM

Looks good so far. I just purchased a Clod body that should be here in a couple days. Can't wait for it to get here so I can remove fake airscoop and smooth out the hood. The plan is to recreate my old Chev 86 4x4 that I used to have way back when. Either that or I might make an exo for it and pant it up to match the s10 E cab that was in the tough truck challenge. I will have to toss a coin I quess.

looneybin 03-16-2007 03:34 PM

WTF? that is awsome, lol as i was looking at the pics i was saying i hate you and then i scrolled down and the next thing i read was the following post. i might have to hit you up to build me a dash.

obijuan, everything about this build screams scale. I love it. Great start on the interior now too. This thing will be a real showpiece when it's done. Please just tell me it isn't gonna be a shelf queen, although, I really couldn't blame you if it was. Great work man.

obijuan 03-16-2007 08:51 PM

lol hell no! it will be wheeled and wheeled hard. i havent been updating lately because well, i have just dumped a sheetload of money into my fullsize with these new gears and posi then i need a new ujoint then i needed u-bolts which were like 100 bucks. so im a little miffed at all that but my rig is lookin sharp so far. got the rear end done today. thanks for the complements and everything, im working on how to mount the body to get it to where it will flex well with the frame. i think i got it figured out, but youll have to wait and see.

looneybin 03-16-2007 09:35 PM

 ha i just noticed, nice cross members. chassis flex is probably pretty extreme
