Default RocHobby 1/10 'Mashigan' RTR - Wrangler YJ

Looks like RocHobby has finally made a foray into the 1/10 arena with a Jeep Wrangler YJ (1986-1995) RTR hardbody.
It is wearing Michigan license plates so its name is ostensibly a horribly mangled, lost in translation form of Michigan, in the same trend as the EAZYRC Arizona.
So they name some American 4x4 vehicles after states? Works for me, I guess.

This site is taking pre-orders for this crawler but there's been no mention of this vehicle in the usual channels, and the pre-orders are on sites in the UK, Australia, Belgium, etc., as far as I can tell.
I don't know if $400 is final or a bargain.

MASHIGAN, BORN ADVENTURER

Humanity's desire for individuality and conquest is engraved into the bones and blood of this car. As the most recognizable SUV in the world, it can climb the banks of the Rubicon or speed in the Sahara desert. She came from the war, and every detail is full of classics. The starting point of this saga was the 1986 Chicago Auto Show. The first-generation model had sharp edges and corners, and it had not yet bowed to the city and the air at that time, and luxury and comfort had nothing to do with it.

Later models talked about the Open air full convertible design, which seemed quite a gimmick, while the first-generation model adopted a similar design as early as 36 years ago. And I'm never going to tell you that this 1:10 MASHIGAN model can remove the entire roof to reveal a full interior. The windshield can be tipped forward and transformed into a fully open top. The super soft rubber seat allows the figure to have a more comfortable sitting posture. A sturdy built-in nylon roll cage protects the interior and figure in the event of a rollover. Behind the single-row seats is a delicate car hopper, and of course the tailgate can be opened, which is convenient for loading various groceries, showing another personality of the owner. The doors on both sides can not only be opened, but also disassembled like a real car. You are the real cowboy when you remove the doors. The hood can be opened, and the 35T550 motor, high-quality brush ESC and the receiver are hidden underneath, which is quite convenient for operation.

For adventurers, the road ahead is always rough and full of thorns, but whether there is a road or no road, the 1.9 inch climbing tires can give you confidence, and meanwhile, the four-link suspension system gives you a guarantee of strong power, the metal trapezoidal beams provide you with a solid supportive structure. Even with a hard plastic car shell with a complete interior, it can easily overcome extreme road conditions. The real first-generation model uses leaf spring suspension, and adventurers will not ignore the history, the chassis can be installed with leaf spring suspension (sold separately) to restore the style of the first generation model. Pursuing the needs of climbing performance and restoration seems to be impossible, but through the compatible design of the chassis and the replacement of a few accessories, it can show a completely different shape. Two postures, and double the fun.

The exquisite interior and four-door full-opening design double the level of detail of this hard-shell RC model, which can be viewed statically or operated indoors. The climbing-level sturdy chassis and suspension system make it cool to go wild!

Um, looks frickin awesome. Nice of them to enter the 1/10 stuff and I sure hope I see some familiar Toyotas in the future as I'd begin to step into the hardbody world eventually.

It does look awesome, for real.

I can already hear the naysayers saying they don't need another Jeep Wrangler and/or Tamiya did the YJ first, but I've never owned that one and this one appeals to me way more.
Maybe they will do a version that's fully licensed with Jeep emblems and badges but this is too cool.

It has soft rubber/vinyl seats! Like a scale modeler's dream come true.

This is nice! I was actually looking for a Jeep body with the square headlights a few months back for a build idea, I’m glad this has came out!

Did anyone notice 330mm wheelbase? 12.9"... Intresting, if it actually is, that brings it up to a much larger scale considering ia 1:1 has a 93" wheelbase... Close to 1/7 scale.. if my math is correct?

Isn't it pretty typical for RCs marketed as 1/10 to actually be closer to 1/8-1/9?

Wow, this looks great. I hope they release this in a more true to scale 1/18. I feel like the Hilux they released is far to big and closer to 1/16

Yeah, they can't get scales right is my understanding, even the high dollar big names in the hobby screw it up. Is that why they went to tire sizes instead?

Right. I raised this issue on another venue where their Hilux is shown to be the same length as their Chevy K10, when in reality the Hilux is a much smaller vehicle than the full size, big Detroit pickup truck from the 70's.

A 1/16 Bruder figure fits in the Hilux nicely, which then settles the matter pretty much.

The Hilux also seems to be identical in size to the 1/16 WPL Hilux

Did anyone else notice that one of the features is an optional leaf spring suspension (sold separately)?

I was lamenting that this is a replica of the last 'real' Jeep because of its leaf springs, but the photos show it has link rods and coil springs.
If that's a real option, that is fantastic. As you may know, their 1/6 first generation (1970) Jimny has leaf springs and U-bolts and all that perfectly recreated.

Yup...that's the conclusion I came to also. This could be awesome! And leaf spring option...I'm in if it ever gets released here.

The description says it has two servos pre-installed.

Makes no mention of a 2-speed transmission but that would be super cool if true because there it is, a servo for shifting from Hi to Low.

The product has been taken off the link in post #1 at MCM Racing. I cannot find it anywhere else except here:
https://alshobbies.co.uk/roc-hobby/R...e_ZcQCCqTGfcxg

However, there are 49 spare parts for the 1/10 Mashigan RTR on the same site but no product images of those parts. Shocks are listed as oil shocks, so that is good.

Hey, there's a "place holder" link for the 1/10 Mashigan on Amazon now. "Currently unavailable"

"We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock" ...which is a misnomer because it
was never in stock to begin with because there's nothing else there, no reviews, etc. Wish they
wouldn't write that crap. How about a 'COMING SOON' instead?

https://www.amazon.com/ROCHOBBY-MASH.../dp/B0B5G35HTR

Anyway, it is associated with the WOWRC store there.

Based on the size, this would make a much better platform to make a scale version of my 1:1 crawler (with ar60s and 2.2s) than the tamiya yj. That body should be big. It would be great if they offer only the body since I'd end up ditching everything else, and 2/3 of the body at that.
