Official UTRCRC GoPro Camera Rig

So I've taken some time off of RC but I'm super excited again and ready to start building. An idea that I had about a month ago was that I wanted to make a dedicated camera rig for the club I run with, UTRCRC. I sell GoPro's at my shop and made it through Christmas with one GoPro HD Hero 2 in stock so I decided I needed to take it home.

I wanted a rig that could easily keep up with a Class 1 or Class 2 rig but still be in the same size range. I figured 2.2 M2 Hammer's would work well to keep up but I still wanted to be able to put a 1.9 on and have it look right. Also I wanted something that was nice and open to put the camera in.

I saw that lmooskey had this F-Toy which Kaetwo built over a year ago. I had Kaetwo's first F-Toy and loved it. One of a few rigs I regret selling. So I snatched this one up and started working on it.

I'm not 100% happy with the front mount but the rear mount is perfect.







What do you guys think. 1.9's or 2.2's?

Here's a quick video I threw together. I found out that the lights played havoc on camera processor and the quality was pretty low for that. I'm heading to southern Utah this week and plan on getting some really good footage with it. Make sure to hit HD

Thanks Dez. It's good to be back. I have a couple builds in mind. Time has still been an issue but I have an idea for a killer Class 2 rig coming up. Class 1 I'm all over the place. Class 3 I'm going to continue rocking my Wraith.

Looks good Zach! I love those F toy chassis, K2 did an awesome job on them. I wouldnt mind having one (hint) haha

I put my go pro on top of my wraith, (just to try to get an idea of where to mount it) and man was it top heavy!! I will need to figure out a better place to mount it on the wraith.

you may want to put the cameras more at the edge of the chassis - this way the rig does not end up in the shot with the wide angle lenses.

It adds some weight but it's manageable.

It could happen but I kind of doubt it will be soon. I'm headed to St George right now and only had room for one scaler. This is what I brought with me.

Very nice video, those Go-Pros are an amazing product. It looks as thought you could hold a scale comp. in your front yard, as a wanabee landscaper I am always chcking out other peoples yards.
