| Custom SCX10 6x6 dually build
I just started my scx10 build. I wouldnt call it perfect scale, but its cool none the less. Specs so far. SCX10 chassis, wraith axles, mud slinger 2.2 tires, dually conversion in rear, all metal tranny gears, metal spur, comp crawler shocks, RC4WD driveshafts, aluminum hub carriers, savox hi torque servo, tekin 13.5t brushless motor, castle mamba max pro esc, castle 10a BEC, RC4WD weighted rims. and im sure there is tons more... My plans are a more scale look. I am converting it to a 6x6 and using scx10 axles for a narrower rearend. dually 2.2s on each axle. I am ditching the body and using a topkick body that I am cutting the bed off of and building a flatbed. Should be interesting... Current state.. Last edited by THX_138; 10-26-2012 at 11:39 PM. |

I am putting a wraith tranny in it and installing a 3 position DIG unit. Not sure what good it will do but I have always wanted a DIG equipped truck. I will be doing some light crawling with this.. Also when I am finished I will be building a scale trailer to tow behind... This thing is gonna be 4 feet long when its done haha..... Shocks im using to mock up the rear.. Once you throw scale out the window...you can let your mind run wild. When this is done, you'll be scaring children, dirt and rocks in a major way. Keep us posted! |

Definitely original. What's the plan for the center axle?

Little update.. Im actually going with scx10 axles for the pass through and rear. I have wraith axles on there now and I like the width.. The front axle is a wraith also.. I am keeping it on there. I am getting hub extenders so that the rear axles will be closer to the width they are now.. I got some metal and made my lengthened frame rails. the rails are a tad bit taller than the axial ones but oh well... Dont hate on my awesome welding skills haha.. These shock hoops are front ones.. I have back ones that im using.. Got some extra metal while i was out... Trailer???? I took the rest of the truck apart and painted my frame rails.. I have some time to kill waiting on my scx10 axles to arrive so i figured I would start on the trailer. added some more bracing and some tow loops to the trailer.. Dont worry I will be grinding down all of the welds... Its really tough to make nice welds on small joints. Last edited by THX_138; 10-26-2012 at 11:37 PM. |

Got some more parts in.... My trailer will have mini me 1.9 mud slingers for tires.. Also I was pondering over the trailer axle for a while... I wanted it to have suspension but I dont like the hassle of leaf springs. I have my old rear wraith axle that Im not using so I decided to use it for the trailer... Only trailer with a 4 link that I know of haha... the shocks i used are from a nitro 4tec. I have to wait until I get my hitch in to fab the front of the trailer. Until then I decided to make a spare tire carrier. My LHS had a "used" brand new 1.9 mudslinger tire for $3. Couldnt pass it up.. Also I wanted to put a barrier on the front of the trailer to keep the towed rig from going over the front and also keeping mud from the rear tires from spraying the car in tow. |

If you wanted to stick with wraith axles you can run a transfer case in the back to split the rear output to 2 outputs so you can drive both axles. It would still take some thought but it can be done.

Mock up...... Holy crap this thing is gonna be long.... Got my spare tire mounted and my hitch rails built... all that is left is to grind and paint... Side note.... I took my trailer in to my LHS and put an scx10 on it to see how it looks.... I must say it looks darn good. I need denser foam for my tires though.. the weight of a truck on there flattens them.. |

I am pretty much finished with the trailer. Painted it black and red and used truck bedliner for the drive on part so that the towed rig wont slide around. |

finally starting to see some progress!!!! Im wondering if I should have put this build in the large scale section haha!!! I had to move the rear frame brace and shock tower forward a bit to make room for my trailer hitch. Also I am working on a few different rear link setups.. gotta wait until wheels are on to see what gives the best travel. |

Holy crap this thing is 4 + feet long.. I have it as a roller just for checking suspension travel and such.. I will be putting the new tires on the front.. and I am still waiting on my 19mm axle spacers to come in from junfac. Anyone have experience with junfac? How long is shipping usually from korea? I got the driveshafts installed.. had to grind about 3/4 of an inch off of the rear shaft.. Got the motor mounted and now I am starting the task of wiring..... wish I could skip this step. I am putting a decent amount of lights on it so that I can run in the dark.. My goal is to have complete illumination 360 degrees around the truck. Also got a chance to clean and reorganize my workshop.... |

I took a break from wiring to start work on a rear flat/ utility bed.. I think it came out pretty cool... The body needs to come down a whole lot though... I didnt realize it until I looked at these pics on the computer... |
