Great use of parts - Love the steering and the hydro steer. Wat about a bigger center shaft for the steering. Most rams are pretty big in Dia. |

Great progress. Love the bump stops. I also like the protection you built over the upper rear shock mounts. Gotta protect those shocks.

Decided where I am going to put the electric box battery etc and had to make a small change to the lower cage brace. I also change the rear shock mounts a little but am happy with the result.....I want to be able to run verious size batteries depending if I'm G6'n it or straight out crawling, So problem has been solved ... I will add some other support in the rear after I have mounted all the electrics etc so I still have room to work ... The changes.... I also added the back of the cabin cage support and will build a boot type box there to hide the battery.... One to support the front shock mounts also .....Has nice clearance of the spur guard and is still easy to pull out tranny and motor. I also mounted the Gear Head LED light bar.......man I love these...... Great product and waterproof ..... I have to pull the end off the light bar to get it in and out but thats cool by me 4 tiny hex screws and done ..... Then a guard for it ..... Done .... I then pulled down the tranny and put the Super Shafty Beefy shaft in and new slipper clutch ....WoW these bits are awesome and cant wait to test them out...Never ran 32 pitch gears before fist time you know , They say the first time is always the best ....... For those who havn't seen the Super Shafty shaft the std axial one is the top of course, Just to show the differance .,..... All back together and I just want to bolt it in and GOOOO....!!!!... I'm running 56 tspur and 10 pinion which give me a ratio of around 5.6 and I think a normal std wraith is 6.2. I have diff gears to play with also but will be OD ing the front and will just have to experiment a little to get a nice balance ratio all round... well Im away for a few days....... and will be itching to get back and do some more .... |

Well I had a little break and took the kids to the zoo in Sydney on the weekend and when I got home I went to do some more brazing and ran out of acetylene..... So I decided to do some panel work and also sort out the little bump steer problem.... first I cut the bonnet off and made a alloy bonnet. I bought a roll of thin alloy from my local bunnings store and here is the pics... I didnt make any molds for this but will at a later date when I can sorce the stuff I will need to do so. I just used the plastic bonnet as a mold and the new one has came out pretty cool.... I've actually got it fitting a whole lot neater after I took this picture.... I also made some door panels and they are ok but will be a whole lot neater when I make a solid mold. Mainly around the door handle where I have to push pretty hard onto the original door .... I then play with the bump steer problem and have it sorted ..... IMG_1566vid.mp4 Video by kenworthit | Photobucket I lowered the servo about 6mm with blocks and also added a spacer to the horn. I also had a play adjusting the pump stops and they work great keeping the body off the wheels.... I be getting some more gas tomorrow and getting in for some more progress ..... Cheers. |

Thanks Bulldog, ....Im trying this moulding thing and didnt get off to a great start ....I made a bonnet scoop and then tried to make a casting mould but used resin for the first stage and it cracked up and ate the blastic bonnet .... So now i had to use the alloy bonnet I made and made a new scoop fron steel. I also used casting cement on the second try here are some pics... In the resin .....Its a shame it reacted as it was looking good ..... The result ..... As you can see the resin started to eat the plastic during setting , now i think of it i should have known this would haooin.... So this is my second attempt...... Will see how this one goes later ..... I also got in and made the firewall, steering wheel, roof panel and the dash .... I have to finish the floor pan around input shaft and was going to attempt to do the floor in alloy with bead rolls in it as I think the diamond plate will lokk a little industrial for the floor. So well see how I go at that..... I think it will look sweet If I can pull it off ..... Cheers |

Well I Still havnt pulled the other mould out yet ....Not game enough to look ...But have done some other little bits . I started on and finished off the floor pan, as I said in the last post I didnt want to use diamond plate so came up with this ..... I made a template and rubbed the alloy plate onto it as you do with the moulds. hard work but just be patient and work from one end to the other otherwise you will cause yourself some folding issues .... Im pretty happy with the result of the rolled panel and I think if I had some proper tools it could be even neater ..... I then fitted the proline fuel cell and pumps , Proline have done an awesome job on this item... You can pull the top off and hide a bec or reciever in there if you wished or even some weight when balancing your rig. I have then built a radiator....was pretty simple idea I had and has worked well .....Some alloy plate styrene squares and steel fly screen glue. I then made some hoses out of ally rod and stuck a thermo on it.... I might make the back a little differant with a better shroud around the fan but looking alright for the time I spent ... A shot of a mock fit but will be higher and forward a little .... I also fitted the electronics box betwwen the battery and fuel cell nice and low out of the way but good access when needed. I hope to get the beefy winch from TZI in today and will find some where to mount it also ......looking forward to trying out the beefy winch .... Cheers Last edited by kenworthit; 06-13-2013 at 05:11 PM. |

I haven't ordered a TZI winch yet...but hope they become available soon. Sounds like an amazing piece that will be the end all, be all, go to winch.
