Now the diffs are together and the body has been cut.... It's time to try this hydro steer on the front axle .... I made a bracket up to mount off the top servo mounts of the top link mount. its not what I was thinking when i got this bright idea but is turning out well ....I think ... I also cut down and old scale shock for a cylinder and drilled out the ends to take a slightly bigger rod. I then made some end for the rod ends to mount ... Now time to make some cylinder mounts and some protection for the cylinder also....I had a peice of nylon sitting around and thought it would be perfect as its so much easier to shape and is still strong enough to do this job.... Drilled some holes big enough to squeeze the cyclinder through...and draw my mount. cut them out with a jigsaw and the cleaned them up on the bench grinder and file .....Pretty good fit and dont look to shabby .... I then made the protection bar up and painted it all up pruuurdy and remounted it up to the plate I drilled 2 holes in the cylinder 1 a each end for some moc lines ..... suprisingly it does not purtrude out the front much and the wheels are still well ahead of the set up . It's also nice and high as most ive seen are lower. With some wheels and body Well what do you all think so far .....???? I hope to get some more done over the weekend...... later.... |

I like the ram setup!!! If you could shrink the link mounts (coming off the ram) a little it would only look better. Overall...very cool! And where is the steering going to come into play??? Behind the axle? I shoe horned my setup that way...but it was really tight and probably wouldn't work for most setups. If you haven't seen mine...here you go. Scale Screamin 2 Southern buggy axial wraith based - YouTube I added a faux ram as well...but really did it as quickly and as simply as possible. I wish I would have spent more time trying to do what you did. Subscribed!!! I've got to see where this goes! |

Got some progress on the build tonight...... I made some plates to mount the chassic to the tranny plate ... I then bent them to the shape I wanted them.... I then cut some 5mm brake tube to make som sliders.... I will be doing a little more work to the sliders a bit later.... I then made a plate and tapped some hole in it to mount to the original tranny mount holes to secure it and then some others to mount the GCM tranfer case to .... I have only sat the tranny and motor in at this stage but it is sitting where I want to mount it, I need to get some plate tomorrow to make the mount as I did'nt have any laying around the shed .... Im pretty happy with the out come so far. There is plenty of room for the servo in front also. I also cleaned up the link ends on the hydro ram ....happy now thery look much better ..... I will be doing some more work on it tomorrow and maybe start some bar work .... Last edited by kenworthit; 06-01-2013 at 08:29 AM. |

I was browsing through Bunnings hardware store on the weekend and came across this ..... I was sick of chasing my finger down the guard on the bench grinder and cleaning up little pieces to have them chewed up by the bench grinder also..... So when I saw this beauty i grab one for the workshop .... It has 2 year full replacement warranty and doesnt eat fingers or the job .... So ofcourse as soon as I got it home I used it and made some panard mounts for the bronco. WoW how easy this sander makes the job and quality finishes.... Made the servo mount and tranny mount also then fitted it all up .Steering works well but I do have a little bump steer..... Here is a little vid of the steering working....just also need to adjust the travel a little. 2013-06-02001049.mp4 Video by kenworthit | Photobucket I also made my own diff panard mount as I just couldnt wait for one to come .... Was time to start the front bar and put a fair lead on it .... Luving the new sander look how small you can work with .... made some body mounts and tapped them so I dont have to braze bolts on the back of them as its a pain in the rear when wevery second one stuffs up and makes an un wanted mess of the job.... I stay up till 3 this morning not relizing the time working on the bronco ..... This arvo I got in and worked on it and have started some cage work . Starting to take shape ..... with the diffs ..... Loads more work to do ...... Thanks for looking hope you are enjoying the thread on this build.... |

Wow, that last post was one thing after the other! Too many great things to mention! You need to string us along more! Thanks for the video of the steering setup. I'll bet we'll be seeing more of it around the site from now on. Keep up the great work! |

Got a liitle more done last night ...... Rear bar work ...I was going to put a loop to protect the tail lights but still unsure well see later clean looking as is ..... I also got the rear shocks mounted started the front shock mounts .....I then made the front wheel arch tubes and bonnet supports. I will be cutting out the bonnet to hinge it also to eventually build my own panels but I will wait till I destroy the body first ..... Front shock mounts... I found these LED torches and will be using them for the headlights and will fit perfect into the head light holes in the body ..... If I had a lathe I would make my own headlight surrounds I will be having a go at making a alloy or steel grille to give it that more scale look.... Later Warren... |

I did a few hrs tonight and made some bumper stops .... I cut down an old set of shocks and used the bottom setion then pinned a spring inside the hosing to retract. The front left hand one is a little shorter as it sits right next to the pumkin.... Flexed..... Rear shots.... Just need to make a few small adjustments to them when rig is loaded(built) but all good berry happy..... The Super Shafty parts arived today..... so I will fit the up and pics soon .... |
