Did i miss the update where you went VP? Last i saw you were 'iffy on em because of weight.

Only reason i ask is i'm curious how it would have held up for my own build.

Sorry, yeah, I went Wraith front, Curie rear. I was having issues with the plastic housings integrity at the pinion bearings. Even after shimming the pinions got play, so I said screw it and went aluminum. Since then, all is well. In fact the mesh is as tight as the day I set them up. The weight gain over plastic with tubes is not much at all, if any from what I hear. I never ran tubes, but my weight only went up 3 oz converting to all aluminum axles.

I was lucky it didn't burn down. The aluminum inner fenders and electronics mount saved it I think.
Traxxas Velineon VXL can't hang with 3s, long runs and/or warm weather....they will thermal on 2s long runs ime and I'm not surprised you burnt one up. Even when they are geared properly, they can't handle the heat in the kitchen lol.

If there is anything we can do to help get you guys going just let me know.

I just found this sequence shot by James Goad from Tim Smith's 24 hour Ironman Challenge. More info on Tim's world record setting attempt can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/timsmithracing

We ran laps with Tim until we all broke.
Nice!

EDIT: Very nice Wraith too, love the tube built, don't know why people still build with solid rod it's so heavy. Weight becomes your enemy at some point.

Thanks for the keys to the boat. Axialfest was a blast! If you have not gone, go next year.

I thought I'd post a few more pics of this rig before it is retired. It has been my favorite car... so far.
