Awesome work as always dude. Very unique, totally you, and a great way to pay homage to a family member passed. Good stuff!

Thanks everyone! This has been a really fun build!

And Nick, you know I don't build shelf queens! I plan on beating this rig so hard, I added armor plates for the occasion!

Well, such is life!

I took the Angel to its first comp last weekend for the Badlands Spacer shootout. Finished 7th in Class 3, but that's not the whole story...

Shoulda, woulda coulda...I had an electrical gremlin that fixed itself, then, my winch hook broke! These sidelined me for an on-course repair for about 2 minutes. There was a 15 minute time limit.

The Turnigy motor acted as expected...less than stellar, but I held it together. The rest of the rig worked great!

But, as fate would have it, my run ended like this!
Dangling from the suspension bridge! 36 inches from clearing the finish gate and 15 seconds on the clock...I DNF'd!

I really hope Holmes gets these Revolver S motors in stock soon! I love the direct drive setup, but this Turnigy is too choppy. Otherwise, I may have to revert back to a traditional sensored brushless with transmission.

Killer build, those scales are awesome. How do those LiPo's perform?

Thank You COwraith! The Lipo's have been fantastic! Been getting about 25min run time with the two wired in series as a 4S.

Nothing but my tires my friend!
The Losi worms lock up. Like an instant, 100% drag brake. Once the rig bounced, I let off the throttle, rear tires hooked and it stuck! Lol

One of those million dollar moments! Could'nt do it again if I tried!

I'm not sure I'd consider that a million dollar moment but.....it looks cool.

So when it was running, how did it do?

Overall I am very pleased. Functionally, Its great. The suspension feels nice and balanced.

The Direct Drive has a different feel from what im used to comping with. Same with the 4WS...Im used to DIG. A little more practice and i'll be good to go.

The Turnigy motor is OK when running outdoors on a larger playing field...Indoors? On a tight, boulder filled course? It pretty much sucked!

I know a few guys with the Revolver S. That's really what this rig needs. But, ive got a backup plan if Holmes decides to give up on them. It wont be hard for me to swap in an LNC trans with sensored motor. But really wanted to keep the DD for something different.

Do you think the motor would do ok with a little gear reduction, like a 2:1? or does the motor just completely bring the suck?

I guess its not 100% all bad...when I took the rig out on the trail and set up gates on natural terrain (like many comps are held), it worked good enough. But on the extreme tight confines of an indoor, boulder course...it pretty much sucked!

Its been a long cold winter! Hav'nt touched this rig since the Badlands comp in January due to me starting another build...

But the weather is getting nice, so time to bring the angel out of hiding!

My son REALLY wants to comp this truck this year, so I think I will let him.
Per his request, he wanted to run the Duallies! I think they look badass! What do you all think?

This rig mainly sits on a shelf, but I brought it to the 2015 RC4WD East Coast Scale Challenge in PA.

I let my boys take turns driving it in the King Of The Rose event (basically a 130 gate G6). They had a blast! Rig performed very well!

As a bonus, it took home a SBG (Scale Builders guild) Ribbon! Proud moment for me right there!!!
