Scale Trophy truck build by bmxreeves

Yet again I've gotten the custom build bug, so this time I'll be (trying) to make a scale trophy truck.

First off, not building this to a specific 1:1 truck so it may not be dead on.

I'm using stock slash/ stampede 2wd arms.

Started to mockup front suspension.

Apparently I decided I never wanted to make trailing arms ever again, so I made them very big.

This is where the build is currently at.



This is going to be a slow build because I haven't figured out all the parts yet, but stay tuned!

After an evening worth of work here's where it sits.
Because of my dumb designing, the shock tabs have to be angled so it can be bind free.

Let's just say I was pretty busy today.

The shock hoops are growing on me, still don't know what to think of them.
Because I'm an idiot and have no idea what I'm doing I ordered this.

Got the Trans cut up and mounted in car with rear driveshaft.

And if anyone was wondering I'm using a stock 2wd slash transmission that's be cut so I could center it.

Made some new upper control arms today.
Also got the electronics in and mocked up for where I want them.
And this is where it gets tricky. The servo/ steering assembly.
If anyone has any idea feel free to tell me.
Another thing is that I would like to have the steering geometry correct, the wizards of Rcc I need you!

Can you mount a tierod up front ? If so all you would need is a drag link . Most ifs use bellcranks

Sadly no I can't.

First off I've got the control arms up there, I also wanted to keep the tire rods out of harms way.

And if I had the room for a servo up there I probably would.

So I just got done holding a servo up where it's a good place and it seems like either 1. There's not enough steering angle and the servo binds. 2. When turning the servo the wheels won't turn at the same speed/ turn with each other. Any suggestions here?

Got a good amount on the back half done last night.
Also got the lower link tabs in and tacked on.
And here is everything mocked up.

So now looking at driveshaft length I might be investing into something a bit longer.

Now it's onto the challenge. Mounting the steering servo.

I still have no idea where to start to get this mounted up.

Hopefully it will be mounted by the end of today.

Going to have to figure out a bent tired rod system as well.

Also going to look into another wheel and tire combo. Not into the low profile look.

And a longer shock up front would be nice.

Weird, at first the pics wouldn't even load ( too big for the 24" monitor) now they seem fine.. Nice work on your rig !

so this morning i picked up some new shoes for the beast. Also there just stick slash wheel/ tire combo so nothing special.
