You need to start hitten up the tire and wheel forum for the answers to these questions. Not that we don't want to help it's just that most of your questions can be answered with the use of the search function in the perspective forum.

Here's a few local guys including my own build thread with answers to most of your questions.

Not trying to be an a$$ but the best way to learn what works and what's available is to read and search what other drivers are using. There is also no perfect set-up for AZ, it is a lot of trial and error in this hobby and it is always evolving.

Good luck!

White Dot Rovers are the favorite for most of us Az drivers.
Don't forget the Foams you use in your tires are very important.
Crawler Inovations 2 Stage 5.5 are what I'm running now.
IMO they are working the best for me.

Rover whites, CI 5.5 or proline dual foams, 1"-.7" wheel, light rears, 10-15oz fronts depending on your weight bias.

Atleast this is a good place to start. Now get to driving. Hit some local comps and check out setups and see how your rig works on the big rock.

That was nice. That combo worked as well as anything else at the time. It's different now.

I dont comp, but I like good BITE. I ran white rovers for over a year, then I've been running boss claws, red, for the last two months.
Honestly, they are nearly identical.
Boss claws definitely have better slow bite, but broke loose under heavy throttle.
Rovers definitely have better progress under wheel speed, but also great slow bite.

They are nearly identical in what they can crawl, just requiring a slightly different driving style. (a tad slower, more finesse with the Claws)

This may sound odd, but the Rovers were more FUN to drive...
