the male ends are stock lenght. The female end is stock lenght too, just cut off the end.

BUt you got remember that this was for my 60/40 chassis build so I have a long rear driveshaft than most.

the tubing is about 1/8" longer than the female shaft(after cut).

Default what are you using to notch out the male ends to the larger size?

what are you using to notch out the male ends to the larger size? dremel? have any pictures of what that looks like or so we can see how clean you got it? i just dont know if i could make that part smooth enough so it would help more than hurt?

With a bit more details, this could replace the dig build thread sticky! Looks like ill have to make a trip to Canada soon, Lucky I am in Northern Idaho! Oh, and its worth noting your prices for parts are all in can$?

I used a cheap ass dremel tool. Close up it looks like shit! JUst just take off enough so every 1/4 turn it will side into the female end. Trust me, mine is not clean at all!!!

Ive been building this up myself and here's some things i've done

use 2 dremel cutting disks together to get the right width for the slots in the shaft.

instead of using a screw for the shaft to lock the rear wheels, i used a wheel hub pin like on maxx trucks, incidently, the 2 disks together are perfect width for notching out the end of the tube for this pin.

also had a ton of losi buggy rod ends and balls, so used those with the y connector on the tube.

But does anyone have actual measures for the shafts? lucifer said his was a 60/40 truck, I'm afraid of making some cuts that would mess everything up and have to order in another driveshaft

how far do the screws go into the tube where the Y piece attaches? do they interfear with the female drive shaft piece inside?

also does the female drive shaft move freely/spin inside the tube?

also what length green spacer is that?

the screws screw into the tube then the locked part of the nut looking thing. The screws almost BUT DO NOT TOUCH FEMALE shaft.

Yes you need the female shaft to spin freely in side tube.

lenght of spacer on the servo arm? or underneath the servo mount?

used it in last weekends comp. It work great!

I took 6th in my first comp ever :-P. Dragging the rear tires worked in a few places that others had problems in. Front dig with rear free helped get up some different lines.

everyone should have one of these. For under 10$ it worked AWESOME!!!!

anyone do this with a stock chassis? Did you have to cut the male drive shafts?

Nice invention man! I haven't seen a dig so neat before. I don't know how it is in Canada, but you should look at getting this copywrited ASAP. I know we ain't in this sport for money, but damn it would messed up if some big named company started selling a version of it.

I'm just hoping/waiting that someone will post measurements, looks like cutting will definetly be needed

This dig idea has been used for over a year. There is a sticky post at the top of this board. lil lucifer got very creative with his attachment linkage though for which he deserves a big . There is already a company on this board that manufactures this dig out of steel or aluminum, but they charge as much as the CKRC dig... so it's still cheaper just to make one.

Even with a stock chassis, it's unlikely that what you need will match what anyone else has. Differences in rear end tilt due to linkage length preferences and servo mounting position make a big difference.

Draw it out on paper and do some measurements. Its easy if you don't want a freewheel position. Just leave a little space betwen the two male shafts then adjust the servo endpoints accordingly. For freewheel, you have to leave a specific amount of space between the two males to allow the rear to disengage while not pulling far enough back for the locking pin to engage. Once you get it on paper it's easier than trying to figure it out in your head. And if you screw up... all the vendors on here have new driveshafts for CHEAP.

well I have to say it was pretty easy to do but took my time and measured everything twice and cut once and it works great!

Thanks for the great write up and idea!!!

here are a couple of pics and videos of my set up. I only did freewheel and locked 4x4 because my radio doesn't have a three position switch..but I may try and mod that soon..
