got the front axle ready to go, picked up some RPM servo posts, cut and taped some anodized aluminum tube that I scuffed with a scotch brite for that brushed look.

call me indecisive, but I already hated the anodized links, I ordered two different kinds of aluminum from mcmaster, so I knocked out another set real quick. Glad I did, the uncoated was stronger (more expensive too, I shoulda known ) and the hole in the middle was more true, didnt even have to drill before taping. decided to polish these ones up, I think I'm good now.

Tore the trans back out today, had to hook up the dig linkage, while I was at it I documented how to remove the slop in the top shaft so you can use the slipper on this chassis. This stops the slight outward movement of the top shaft caused by the slot in the top gear being cut to deep, normally this is not a issue, but with the tight clearances I am working with, the slop would let the spur move into the chassis plate. First cut two small pieces of metal, I used wire in this instance, just make sure it is as small as possible, to large and the pin will not engage in the gear. next drop into each slot on the gear, i kept the shaft in, and used grease to keep it in place. slide the top shaft back into the gear, check your pin to make sure it is still engaged fully on the gear, again we are just taking out slop here, you don't want to pose a different problem by not letting the pin engage in the gear. Reassemble the trans, and ensure everything spins freely, there should still be "some" in and out movement on the top shaft, enough that it doesn't bind, but not so much that your spur will walk into the chassis. I also got my dig linkage worked out, ended up having to bend the servo arm to clear the chassis, it was hitting the chassis otherwise. |

That was a killer right up . Every time I look at this chassis I find my self wondering if I could put my LCC stuff in there . |

I think I'm back at the waiting game. I guess I could build shocks. Waiting on.. -esc and motor (USPS apparently put "low" in front of the word Priority on this one) -Wheels to get back (hopefully by the end of the week) -Lower links (someone is doing me a favor, those can take as long as they need to) -Painted body (don't want to do that before I have a roller, may change to a grappler Pro) -Battery (should be here this week) -another pair of shocks (I'm a dummy and only ordered one.. should probably order another set) Last edited by XSRCdesign; 12-13-2009 at 03:36 PM. |

Thanks for posting up the pictures . It would be difficult to do, but it sure is tempting to try. That chassis is just so sexy . I know what you are talking about on the USPS thing. I have been having the same problem.:? |

Esc, motor, and lipo are here. Shocks are in route. Got pictures of my wheels sent to me, can't wait to get those back. Waiting on lower links, and deciding on if I want to switch tires before I throw paint on the body. |
