Default The Nerd's SSS-R

All the same spec's as the old SSS just with a nice shiny new chassis.

Pics finally. Check out that ground clearance 8-) Only thing I don't like is the front links are in the road of the tires but I have 725 hubs on the way so hopefully that will fix that. Other than that the flex feels great and it seems to be more controlled and smoother than the old version.

Looks good but why aren't you using the front upper link/servo mount that came with the kit?

I saw the same issue. Trying to keep it as narrow as possible, yet using all the available steering throw is a battle of which will win out. I moved my lowers inboard more and I have all my steering, but I think it negatively affected the front geometry a bit. Still works great, but the front has just a touch of torque twist on a 62 degree incline.

This makes me hate the Canadian border even more. Mine still hasn't shown up but the guy in Australia has it.

It's good to see that the Vanquish dig fits in there. I was thinking about that after I ordered it. Looks good.

I'll weigh it this arvo but I really couldn't care so long as it sticks to the rocks and it isn't a pig

Yeah geometry is what I was worried about to, hopefully the wide hubs will fix that though.

Where you first or second batch? Yeah it fits, but I will have to rig something up to mount the servo a bit stronger at the back. I worry with only one bolt it will move to much.

First batch . Hopefully it comes soon. I'm running a regular servo in mine with the mounting plate the dig came with and when the servo binds up it moves a little bit.

On a side note, I didn't know an FXR could handle a puller. This is something I'll need to look into.

Ok that sucks I got the last one in the first batch. Yeah the old set up used to move a little in binds so I don't think one bolt will hold.

Yeah very muchly so, gets to about 4-5 I think so equivalent of running a mod motor according to the instruction Manuel. Only rated to 3s which is not enough for some people, but is plenty for the 7t. Plus it's tiny which helps in mounting.

My attempt at neat wiring Tekin wires were shortened to length, CC bec wires shortened (it is mounted under the plate), Dig servo wires will be lengthened. I might shorten the S9157 wires too but I dunno.

That aggravates me WITH a dig unit & dig servo...you're still lighter than mine. That's it.....I'm gettin down and dirty on weight reduction.

I was think yours was pretty heavy? What I reckon the big difference is your rim's. The old pycho's were pretty heavy, well compared to SLWs anyway. I could lose more if I wanted but it would be tiny things like shave my bta linkages stuff like that.

Massive problem I see is that your tires will want to 'lift' off the rocks to much

Yeah but it'd be great at floating over gaps

First trial run on the brick pile was incredible it is so much more planted and the ground clearance is very helpful Lack of steering is a big problem though, but I'll hold out on doing anything drastic till I get the new hubs. Heading out again to some real rocks this arvo so I might get some pictures then.

Tested her out on the beach today worked fantastic. It does have a bit of torque twist and the steering is well not great. Most of the pictures turned out rubbish so I filted through and got the best I could.

The ground clearance alone is worth the switch from the old SSS. It seems a lot more stable and sidehills very well. Jumps nicely too

Kieren

P.S. to those of you that are permanently disable I commend you on your ability to compete in this sport. Crawling with a cast is nothing but annoying.

Just a small update. I've been working on a one piece dig servo mount to replace the old 2 piece one. This is what I've got so far. Now I just need to drill some holes and she's ready to bolt up and use.

Just another small update. Dig mount finished and it is much better, if anything better than the old style with two pieces, it allows no flex. Also got my 725 hubs today, I can get full steering with only a tiny bit of rubbing. Not sure I am liking the offset though, but we'll see how it goes. I'd rather deal with funny looking steering movement then minimum steering.
