lots of updates coming up. Mostly cosmetic things, but it should be looking more and more finished. All i will really have left to do is figure out electronics which ive been spinning my wheels on.

If anybody feels like giving advice on motor/esc and rx/tx here is what im working with/looking for:

Have a 7955tg servo and holmes hobbies rx bypass for a bec
Want high turn brushed motor (I like slow technical crawling) and an esc that will allow me to upgrade to brushless at some point. I would like to avoid lipo batteries for now but the option to switch to them eventually would also be nice.

tx/rx, i dont need anything super fancy but i would rather pay a little more for something that is made well. Ive always used cheap futaba radios that only had trim settings and nothing else, i would love to change that.

price wise I would like to not go much over 200 for each thing.

thanks for any help and updates will come soon :-D

I agree.. The MX-V or any other Airtronics TX, would be the way to go!

Unless you get the MX-V for 60-70$, your best bet for longevity and additional rig types, the MT-4 is the way to go! ;)

In the last 5 days, a handful have went for 150$ and down..
TX for 70$ and a rx for 40-50$.. If you buy them separate... Still under 150$..

Always HH! I'm working on numbers Dan..

If you can get a MT-4 for ~$150, go for it. It'll serve you well for whatever you decide to drive.

LiPo batteries have much better power to weight over a NiMH, plus I'm not sure where you'd mount a stick pack in a SuckerPunch chassis. You should really reconsider and use a LiPo.

i think im just going to make the jump to lipo, the only reason i would rather not do it is because i have a very limited (and apparently out of date) knowledge of them. The only time i have had interactions with them was years ago when a "budget" lipo set up was around 1200 bucks.

Troy has assured me that lots of things have changed since then so maybe it wont be as bad as i see in my head. Seeing a recent thread about somebody having a contained lipo fire in storage doesnt help my feelings at all.

1200$!!!!!

You could have one heck of a Lipo collection, these days, for that kind of money!

Packs we use are 6-8$ a piece..
Chargers can be up to 250$, for top notch, charging and balancing 4 packs at a time..
But I'm sure half a dozen packs and a 50-75$ charger will cover all your needs.

So you could drop a zero and get all hooked up into Lipo for 120$!

I've only been here since 2011, but with over 84,000 members on RCC, I've only read two threads about LiPo fires. If you treat them with some respect, you should have no worries.

Troy can get you hooked up with a decent LiPo (or two) that'll fit the SuckerPunch.

i just jumped off the deep end and bought myself an early christmas present. (thats what im telling my lady anyway)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

ive always heard good things about spektrum and i watched videos and read some things before i pulled the trigger on that radio. I think for the price its one of the best moves i could make considering it has 4 channels (helpful when i build a scaler) and can be bound to other rx's (also helpful when i build a scaler) and on top of that seems to be pretty durable. It wont be available to ship for another 2 days but its not like im going to be able to use it on anything any time soon haha.

That's a good deal. It's less than I paid for my DX3C 5 years ago and if you didn't like it for whatever reason, you should still be able to get $75 for it used.

Finally something to look at! I am going to try and make some kind of scale garage for photos, i had some foam board laying around from another project so this is the start of it in these pictures.

Things that have changed since the last pictures posted are:

VP motor plate and spur cover, front drive shaft installed and half of the rear drive shaft installed. I also got bored one day and colored the light edges of the chassis.

The motor plate and spur cover are pretty awesome but its SUPER wide, i spaced out the side plate a little to get it installed but im trying to come up with a better solution. I can cut the motorplate and skip the spur cover but i would rather not do that, i love the side profile that it gives the chassis, to me its organic curves that just make it look really tough.

Since my first flex picture wasnt good enough, these are for you fish!

and some pictures of my new stuff. I also got an exciter body but getting that in the picture was a pain.

I might start messing with everything today but probably not until tomorrow, going to try and get some in progress of everything.

Why king shocks? Unless king shocks have been improved imo the stock scx10 plastic shocks with MRC springs would work better. This bridges the gap between a scale & comp rig. (Tires/shocks)

I didnt really seek out the king shocks. I just wanted some shocks that were a bit longer because there was no droop left in the scx shocks at all and they almost feel like they are getting ripped apart just sitting there. I did want to get proline power strokes but these ended up being cheaper and i had a coupon code for ckrc.

What is bad about the king shocks? They feel and look really well built, if its something do with the dampening or springs both of those can be changed. They seem like any other metal threaded shock to me.

More than a few members have mentioned "thats not for a comp rig" on various parts and i really dont get it. Ive posted more than a few times im not going to compete with anything, the parts fit together and work as intended so what is the issue?

Pick up some rcbros or mrc springs for the scx10 shocks. The scx10 shocks will do the job.
It's probably the scale style/stock springs that make the scx10 shocks not fell right on your rig.
