My AX10 is my first r/c car ever, and I really love it :) I've been doing lots of reading and learning on this great forum, and am slowly learning I hope. I haven't done anything special with my AX10 - placed the spacers inside the shocks, split my 4200 stick into 3x pairs and mounted them over the front axle and front-upper links (bit of a squeeze ). I had great ideas for the paintjob until I realised just how difficult it is to mask the inside of a body shell - kudos to you guys who have wicked paintjobs "thumbsup" Yesterday I tried my first bit of major body work - bob and dovetail. The first cut was the scariest  lol. I had an idea for some simple tubework too - I found an old portable TV arial in the garage, and the largest tube looked about right for my rig, so I cut and chamfered the ends, made some plastic inserts from the plastic webbing from my AX10 kit and glued them into the ends of the tube. When they were dry I drilled and tapped them, then screwed through the body into the ends of the tubes. This makes the newly-cut rear of the body nice and rigid, PLUS I have no bolts showing where the back-end has been re-joined "thumbsup" Not much, I know, but I'm pleased with it :) Spec: AX10 kit imported from USA Novak Rooster / 55T 4200mAh saddle-pack 4x 9/16 ball bearings in each front wheel Star-cut Axial foams Airtronics MX-3 r/c gear Used the 4-AA holder to mount the Rx between the rear-upper links I have some bent links on order, and then plan to use the old links for a 4-link conversion (in an attempt to get rid of the torque twist) http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z.../ax10-01-1.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...os/ax10-02.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/DSCF7702.jpg |

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k2...lerpics013.jpg I'm having a tough time bringing myself to mounting my batteries on the front axle or on the links - takes much away from the looks of the rig. This is my second AX10, so I've learned a little from the last - lowered the ride height by swapping the shock spacers to the inside of the shock body, moved the lower links inboard at the chassis with the Hot Racing skid plate. My only complaint is that it gets hung up easily since it's not that slick. I have added lead weight to the front axle, which made a BIG difference in how well the truck climbs. The heavy Proline wheels help, too. I added the CF chassis to help bring the CG down a bit, as well. |

My AX I chose to go with Spectrum since they coat their electronics with a conformal coating making them water proof. I am also using rooster crawler ESC and Novak 55 turn crawler motor. http://lh5.ggpht.com/jasontville/SDm...0/IMG_0193.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/jasontville/SDn...0/IMG_0217.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/jasontville/SDy...0/IMG_0261.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/jasontville/SDy...0/IMG_0263.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/jasontville/SDy...0/IMG_0259.JPG |
