It's mostly due to the lower links being triangulated like the are, it doesn't allow the tire that is being compressed to swing outside the body as much as my standard link set-up. Link set-up really comes down to personal preference and driving style.

Rubbaneck

I assume that your running this 50/50? Are you also running it at a 12.5 WB? If you don't mind giving out your upper and lower link lengths eye to eye. I am interested in giving this set up a try. Looking forward to seeing more pics!

The uppers are around 4-1/2" eye to eye. Give or take a few 3/16" for anti-squat and caster.

Nice, but it will not hold up to mine!
The double triangulated links are very nice. I am ditching a normal setup up front to go back to a double

Very nice setup. It appears that the center relief is there to reduce weight on a heavier skid. I don't really see it as helping with clearance, since it's only a small section down the center, and right beside it are socket head (allen) bolts. Just guessing but it seems the plate could be 5/16" or even 3/8" thick. I've also tried this link setup, after talking to Joey about it, and must say that it feels very solid. I have yet to try this along with keeping the uppers triangulated though. I guess that's next on my list of must do's

Again, sweet work on the SW3!!!

Default Some dig

Here's a few pics on my dig.

Used maxx shafts with stampede 4628x inserts to attach them to the axles. On the tranny side I just drilled the outdrives with a 3/32 drill bit.

Default Finished

Finally done and ready for the next comp. Took long enough but well worth the time.

Any Questions fire away...

With the traxxas #5525 you'll get two different size balls. I used te BIG ONE'S with the wide mouth towards the inside, and the distance is 3/8".

Thanks Brad.

I've got the body in the Fat Bastard FX paint shop right now and will have that back real soon. Old school with a new twist.

Right here between the front upper links. It's riding on a lexan shelf I bent and mounted under the servo. I think it's about .080" thick.
