Default SWX Arachnida

This fine rig is based off the most popular Chassis/drivetrain out there.

I went with the BENDER SW3 silver chassis and Axial AX-10 Scorpion drivetrain.
Hand made servo/link mounts and skid from M.IN.E. (Kris).
Losi shocks front and rear. Homegrown links with Losi LST and Jato rod ends.

Here's a few shots of my creature. More to come as the process continues.

Front servo mount

Rear Dig mount

High clearance skid from M.IN.E.

Special thanks to BENDER, Kris, Jared, Acrawler2nv and HobbyClown

Actually, Jay's been running this link set-up for a while on his old rig, before the GC-1 was even around.

Can I ask why you prefer not to? I only ask because I am working on a Tuber and see many claiming the lower link like these seem to be the ticket. Any input you might have would also be great.

No particular reason really. This link set-up does help eliminate axle steer, but a little axle steer can be good in some situations. I've been running my/this link set-up since I built my TXT in 2004. I'm used to how it behaves on the rocks. I'm not saying I wouldn't try a new set-up either, just haven't seen the need to mess with it much. I am thinking about moving the lower links just inside the chassis plates, so there's less to get hung up on though. If Rubbaneck starts kicking my ass in comps, then I might have to switch to this link set-up.

THnCS, your chassis went out yesterday.

Iron Chef, Krakatoa Kris has the full length skids. They have been relieved down the center too.

Yeah Jay!!
Looking good. I'm liking those upper link mounts.
That link setup is the way to go, it improved the performance of my sw3 a ton!

Your Rig looks Great. I like it a lot. From what you have
shown us so far it should perform great. Maybe Brad
will change his mind on the link placement if you let
him drive it out on the rocks. :-P

Thanks for the compliments guys...

I really owe one to Kris for his help all the time on my rigs.

This will be rock ready in a few daze when the clouds clear. Losi Rock Claw Tires and the new Axial 2.2 wheels are in route along with the new Grappler from Losi.

Electronics will be the famous Mamba Max and Castle BEC. Steering is controlled by a 402oz JR-PROPO DS8711 and dig is the JR-PROPO Z650.

Radio is a Bling R-1 from JR-PROPO. Rinestones baby...

Rubbaneck, the only problem I see with this set up is this, I am going to copy your design and you are still going to kick my arse What is up with that. All joking aside, I am going to copy it and you will kick my arse!!! That is a nice rig and can't wait to get mine toghether. Damn cold weather!!!

Bender--You made my day!! Hopefully the mail is good and I get it today or tomorrow. Maybe by Monday the new "Bendial" will be ready.

Why does this link set-up eliminate axle steer? I'm curious.

That is a beautiful skid plate.

Truck looks good for sure.

JUSTGOINGSLOW:
Bender was the 06 2.2 champ
Gatekeeper was the 07 2.2 champ

Both are great drivers and know ALOT about linkset-up and chassis building! I only wish I knew that much about it.
