Default Got flex? My deadbolt...

Hey guys.. Picked up a deadbolt a few weeks ago. Had it out only once, but have been tinkering on it while the weather is crappy..

Anyways, done a few standard mods: cut stock tires, flipped lower shock mounts, battery to front, 2s lipo, and a neat little suspension setup... Thought you guys may like it!!

Ride height..

Some flex...

It's set up as a droop setup... I still need to tinker with some limit straps, and bump stops.. And then do some body trimming.

And don't worry, the front works just as well...

Spot the trick? Also bought a e-revo brushless... Had some long travel rockers in the box...

Droops like a trophy truck! Lol

Except for the fact that a Trophy trucks suspension actually works.

Lol. While I don't disagree with you, I'm just tinkering around. Will I actually run it like this? Hell, idk. Is it cool to look at and play around with? Yes sir, it sure is.

You'll be disappointed on the rocks with that much flex. It's a sure fire way to drop a tire into a crevice and get stuck.

It may look cool, but thats about it.

I just got my deadbolt, had it a week don't plan on needing that
much flex, just going to enjoy it like it is. good job, on your ingenuity.

Hell it's back to stock now. But thought I'd post the pics up anyways.

The rockers do have me thinking about how I could make a cantilever setup work...

Don't get us wrong. The AX10 out of the box does not have enough flex.

Buy the soft springs that Axial sells, and flip the lower shock/link mounts both front and rear. Those 2 mods alone will net you almost all the flex you'll need. Trim the lexan body so that the tires can never (or almost never) make contact at any angle and you're there.

Beyond that, knuckle or wheel weights up front, high torque servo, high clearance links, a lower CG, and a good set of tires and you're set. Any mods you do beyond this will net you much less bang per buck (although some are priceless, like a 45t or+ motor, and a BEC for the servo).

Disclaimer: This is assuming you want your AX10 to rock crawl, and not putz around "bashing". pbbbt

How do you get the rockers to stop when tires are on the ground.

Oh I was just playing around with that "setup". Here is my normal setup... Same as above minus the rockers. Trimmed the body. Still need to upgrade links and steering..

Normal flex... (iPhone 5)

Holy torque-twist Batman! My super-class rig doesn't even have that much flex! Dang junior! lol. j/k... You'd also be surprised how softer tires with good foams will compliment a realistic amount of articulation... I lightly modded my old (literally "old") leaf-sprung Tamiya Mountaineer and put on 1.9 steelies wrapped in Flat-Irons with memory foams. It crawled my backyard course better than my old MOA rig with 5x the flex.

I picked up a set of axial beadlocks and r35 ripsaws, and also a set of proline tsl xl's.. Just need w suggestion on a good set of beadlocks to mount the TSL's on.

this is how i setup my cantelever suspension on a project crawler. Super smooth and just the right amount of flex. Only issue is the added weight up top.
