Default Capra’s on 2.2

Thought it would be interesting to see who all is running 2.2’s on their capras and how they like them. I have a Capra with a 1080!hw esc Holmes 35 t torque master on a 4600mah 2s battery with voodoo pins and some weight on the front axle and am very surprised how well it works Climbs almost as good as my sporty. Sorry no pics just now

I tried mine on 4.75" 1.9"s for a couple days before throwing 2.2" Hyrax's on. No interference (nothing to be concerned with anyway) with 55° of steering and 225 hubs. Yes, they're disproportionately large, but the 2.2"s are staying on. I think a 5.25" tire would be juuust right. I did try some 5.4" 1.9 boggers, and some 2.2" ripsaws and the fit was good, but the boggers belong to my son, and the ripsaws, well, suck on rock. My 6" Jconcepts Ruptures are just too big without being able to gear lower, and I'd have to use wider hubs (likely 475 or 600) which would just be too wide, and too tall for my liking. It does slip/squeel the clutch easier, but I've not had any issues with heat (both the Puller Pro Stubby 2700kv w/11t pinion and the Mamba Micro X have stayed under 140° on 3s) even in 90°+ weather, and power has been more than adequate. Can't wait until someone releases a bolt-on knuckle/weight for this thing and it will really start to shine, fitting in nicely between my Wraith and the Bully2 I just sold (immediately after ordering the Capra.)

I just got mine and am going with 2.2's as well. Im going with 5.4" Proline TSL. The Hyrax XL see too large for my liking but do have a pair to try if I so desire. From what I read, I am concerned I will be over geared with a 2280kv slate motor and the taller tires.

So my feller 2.2 users, did you find it necessary to add weight low? If so, how much? I dont want a super heavy rig. I am going to try Vitavon portal covers (82g each) and hold there. Thoughts?

Well I have wanted a portal sporty for some time........Capra it is. We have a guy at our club crawls that is working on his. He is currently running Hyrax with some side lugs cut. It seems to do ok. I have a set of TRX axles fully built O/D front U/D rear brass portal boxes and some HD axles in front. I just couldn't get the wheel speed I like. Krazed Builds is making some killer looking chassis for this rig and I will own one shortly. They make one that uses all the capra links, skid, and shocks, simple. I will probably opt for the full on Carbon Fiber chassis and front axle electronics plate. I can do my own links. If this rig goes like I suspect it will on 2.2 it's gonna be hard to beat. It did really well on 1.9 with the cage so 2.2 are going to be hard to stop.
Does any one know if there is a way to eliminate the slipper? I don't know any body using them in Sporty class. Also do you guys with 2.2s have low enough gearing or should I be thinking about a different transmission. I have a Element I could try maybe, not sure of the final ratio with the portals.
Those are some nice looking rigs there. Do you just use them for trail running? I would love to try mine with the cage and 2.2 tires. Maybe Voodoos or the new pins Proline is making. We will see. Later

I just bought a set of IBEX before we shut down for winter. I also have a set of narrowed VOODOO pins. Side by side they are pretty close in size. I had a chance to run the IBEX on the Capra one day. Did horrible, I didn't get past 6 out of 10 gates. At first I thought it was the tires and the combo with a new to me rig. Nope. Everybody sucked on that course. I just haven't had time to run them again and do some tuning lol. I did go with a SCX10 tranny though. I do like the Capra on some of the other tracks I have been to. Here in Northeast it gets too cold and dark to run much past Halloween.

I am running an In The Works sporty chassis with 2.2 Ibex it works great with no tuning so far, just threw it all together and started running it. Foam's are a hair on the soft side but so far it crawls good.

They are just the Axial Method wheels. Punks Custom 3d makes some nice looking carbon fiber beadlocks that I am going to switch to eventually.
