Default Servo fitment issues...

Got some VP V2 housings and their new servo horn. I am having clearance issues mounting the servo...

Servo mounted forward, servo horn hits steering link.

Servo mounted back, servo horn hits diff cover.

I have to be doing something wrong.

Flip the servo and make a link.

Try removing the C-hubs and clocking them 1 notch, that should move the steering link farther away and give you the clearance you need

I use losi servo spacers but I'm sure other companies make them too. Just basically a spacer that goes between the servo mount and servo mounting arms. Moves it forward about 5-10mm depending on the amount of spacers used. Or just buy a shorter servo horn. Or I've seen the servo horn mounted vertically.

Id grind the lower mount hole on the servo horn off, you should then have enough clearance...

I tried moving the c hubs and I got servo horn clearance but then the steering link had to be rotated so much that it limited the steering since it hits the diff cover.

I tried the stock servo and there are no issues. So it must be the dimensions of the pro modeler servo. May put this on my sons and get a new servo. Ha!

I would prefer not to start modifying parts since these are all supposed to be bolt on upgrades.

Nothing in this hobby is 100% bolt on. Half the fun is making things work. Like I said before. Flip the servo so it doesn't hit the center section and make a link or order the length you need from vanquish. They have an awesome selection of links for custom work.

Rotate the steering link up so it sits behind the horn under the servo with the servo mounted forward it will go just above the diff that is what I had to do

This servo horn is slightly longer than the axial servo horn. I guess the VP one I got is 24mm. They will be coming out with a 20mm length servo horn as well. It's a cool looking piece.

I just picked up a Holmes HV500 servo and I am going to move the promodeler servo to my sons rig...which is still running the stock servo (will be broken any day now I imagine). Win-win!

Is it just me or is your steering limited by the amount of travel allowed before the steering link hits the diff cover? Do you guys have the same limitation? Do you just make sure your servo set points are set such that the steering link doesn't hit?

Bolt on parts have limitations. Make your own steering links, servo mount etc.

I'm using the VP one piece servo mount backwards with an Axial arm cut down. Home made tie rod and drag link on an f9 housing. I was using a home made plate with the axial stands, but it was almost too far back. The VP mount backwards seems perfect.

I had the VP smooth covers & RCBros servo posts & was able to simply twist the tie rod in the roof ends so it sat up just behind the servo horn, would turn full lock without the tie rod binding.

If the tie rod hitting the cover is limit of your steering it doesn't matter so long as you set your end points to not keep trying to drive past that, that's what will burn out servos.
