I've been trading out my hitecs for the promoddlers. I have several of the v4 and v5. I have yet to have and problems with any of them. I use them in Scx10"s Shaftys and pros. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk |

| Re: What servo are people using? I can't seem to find whether they are water proof when shipped or not. I have researched and found they O ring even the case screws, but can't seem to find whether they are actually rated as waterproof or steps need to be taken on my end. thoughts?

They are water resistant. Dielectric grease on everything. The circuit is potted. Send John a note, he DOES respond ! Hang up and Drive |

EDIT: nevermind, found the "ask john" section, guy seems to know his stuff, very interesting. Some of the comments backing him up are from the naval aeronautics lab. Those are the guys who develop drones, wow. Last edited by DukeMinnix; 08-08-2017 at 08:12 AM. | |

I can say from experience that the promodeler v5 is not fully waterproof. I wouldn't hesitate to run it in snow or get it splashed, but one of mine ingested water after about five minutes of submarine play. I think it came through the wire grommet. It's currently drying out to see if it survives. I've got another I filled the board side with dielectric grease (kinda tricky to fill, had to make a sleeve/funnel with heatshrink tubing to snake between the board and case to fill the cavity above the board) and the gear side with gray colored "CV" joint grease, I think its molybdenum disulfide. That one has a couple hours of submarine play without issue. All the grease on the gear side barely slows it down, which I find impressive The picture above must be old, thats not what my v5's look like inside. |

I don't know if the v5 is waterproof/water resistant. I'm sure if we ask John he would let us know. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk |

I got a PowerHD 20KG, cheap, strong and waterproof, but not the fastest with 0.16sec Got 2 for €18 each, been running one in my Crawler King without issues, so also mounted one in my Bomber. |
