| FTRC Bomber Build
Whats going on everyone! I know there have been many Bomber build threads so I won't go into detail, but I figured I would post up some pictures of my build as I go along. This is my first "crawler/trail" rig so I'm excited to get it finished and start driving. My current list of upgrades that will be installed during the build is: Axles: Aluminum Beef Tubes front and rear, Incision Spools front and rear Links: Axial Kit links with Traxxas Rod ends Drive train: Axial Aluminum Motor Mount Power: Castle Creations Mamba X and Crawler Edition 3800KV Slate Motor Servo: Holmes Hobbies HV500v2 (edit: forgot about the Vanquish servo mount) ON TO THE PICS! The axles went together smoothly. The spools went in perfect. I'm not sure if the spools helped or if its just because the kit is new, but there was no shimming needed like my SMT10. I apologize, I forgot to take pics of the beef tubes going in, but they are in there. The links and servo on the axles Motor mount and motor installed Unfortunately that's all I have so far. Tomorrow I should be able to get the transmission and axles mounted to the skid plate. I plan on painting the cage so I'll have to wait till I get the paint to put it together. Thanks for checking it out Last edited by FTRC; 12-26-2018 at 06:24 PM. |

Well I have made more progress. I got the transmission and axles mounted to the skid plate. I'm noticing why people use the RPM rod ends of the stock traxxas ones. I don't like the pinion angle on the rear axle, so I ordered a set of the RPM rod ends that should be here tomorrow. Other than that, I skipped ahead a bit and built the shocks. Unfortunately, I'm now stuck because my receiver still hasn't showed up (after almost a month now) and I don't have the paint to paint the cage or body panels yet. I plugged up the Mamba X to my computer to check the settings on it. I put the drag brake at around 30% for now. Not sure if that will be good enough so if anyone has any suggestions on settings let me know! PICTURES! Pinion angle I'm not happy with Shocks |

The traxxas rod ends and the RPM rod ends are shorter than stock. You need an M4 spacers on each rod end to regain the stock axial length. SSD makes the spacers in black aluminium which is perfect. I dug an old picture from my build, you will see. From left to right : RPM - Axial - RPM with M4 spacer. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |

That pinion angle is at full droop which you won't see once the shocks are attached. I wouldn't worry about it. Quote:
